May 10, 1940. Today 83 years ago. Here is a little thread.
This year I am thinking of Ben Swagerman. He was a observer/commander on a Dutch T.V Bomber. On the 10th of May 1940 he and his crew fought against the German invaders in his already obsolete bomber.
“Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven’t been doing much,” US President Donald Trump said.
Just a couple of hours ago Russia killed one-year-old Angelina in her stroller in a park in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. Her mother later died in hospital. An 11-year-old girl was also killed.
With these kinds of armored turtles where turret rotation does not matter as much, isn’t it time to bring back SPG’s like the StugIII or Strv103’s.

Flying blue! On this day in 1919, Dutch airline KLM was founded. It’s the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. Its iconic blue was chosen to symbolize reliability, calm, and the endless sky it has crossed for more than a century. 🇳🇱 @KLM

On this day in 1944, the Japanese hell ship Junyo Maru was torpedoed off Sumatra. Some 5,600 people died, including about 1,300 Dutch POWs. That is more than four times the death toll of the Titanic. A forgotten maritime tragedy of WWII.
