Jason Salemi (@JasonSalemi) just shared with us this interesting Shiny App that allows you to explore the models of the Crash Course in Good and Bad controls! (Links in the next tweet)
This morning, @USouthFlorida was honored to host @GregoryRHancock, Professor, Distinguished Scholar-Teacher, and @quantitudepod rockstar, for an incredibly insightful and practical research talk on power analysis. What a treat!
Yeah, #Milton needs to find something better to do.
I just cannot imagine. We're only seeing Cat 1 winds. Praying for everyone!

Haven't been on this thing in a while. Thank you for well wishes. We're blessed to be good so far. A mild breeze 😉
A very kind new student of mine found out it was my bday today from LinkedIn and joined a teams call w a happy birthday background.
Of course then they proceeded to ruin it by saying they thought it was cool that they were two years old when I started as a graduate student.

We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Sten Vermund as the new dean of @USFCOPH starting Jan. 2025! With decades of expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, leadership at Yale, and as president of @GlobalVirusNews, he's set to advance our public health impact. bit.ly/USFH-COPHDean
This week, I got to represent the @usfcoph and @USFHealth and throw out the first pitch at the @USFBaseball game.
Not too bad for a near 47-year-old arm that hadn't thrown a baseball in years.
I love the community at @USouthFlorida and feel blessed to be there!
GO BULLS!
“I am pleased to inform you that you are being promoted to the rank of professor…”
Well, that’s pretty darn cool...and a nice way to commemorate the upcoming 10-year anniversary since I earned my PhD.
I really love what I get the opportunity to do each and every day. ❤️🤘
You clearly have too many parameters in your model. The algorithm will not converge. #Saturated #epitwitter
For what it's worth, I have a plea to everyone who reads this. One thing I've learned a million times over during the COVID-19 pandemic (and pretty much my entire life) is not to trust things at face value.

It's happening again & the stakes are arguably much higher. Things that don't even pass a sniff test are being circulated daily, far and wide. Sometimes nefariously, sometimes due to laziness, because the info resonates with the echo chamber, sometimes the rush to be first.

Dear federal grant auditors:
I spend my time exactly as apportioned. Exactly. Without deviation. The most accurate pie chart ever created.

Brief COVID update
When speaking with NPR last week, I said the plateauing of hospitalizations for 3 weeks made me feel like a downturn was coming.
In FL, the data are suggestive of improvements in the # of people being hospitalized w/ COVID.

...people are not getting charged for the booster (no one should have to pay, see below), and the government is again making free at-home antigen test kits available.
