I'm grateful to my colleagues, Representatives Jenn Boylan, @JuneSpeakman, @TerriCortvriend, Leo Felix and @Justine4RI Caldwell, for sharing this Op Ed in support of my campaign. "There is so much at stake, and the Attorney General has never been a more critical job. It’s not enough to simply stand on principle: We need leaders who share our progressive values, who will fight for what’s right, and who have demonstrated they know how to win. That’s Jason Knight." steveahlquist.substack.com/p…

I spent this morning up in Saylesville at the commemoration of the 1934 strike-turned-massacre that marked Rhode Island's labor history. As state representative I've been proud to stand with workers and unions in pushing for minimum wage increases, contract continuity, minimum staffing in nursing homes, and of course wage theft and worker misclassification. Organized labor is the beating heart of Rhode Island and I will continue to stand firmly with you as Attorney General.

It was really enjoyable to have this bilingual conversation with Tony Mendez at Poder102.1fm. The Attorney General has so much power to protect Rhode Islanders, so it's important that voters are informed about both the office and the candidates before they head to the polls. Rhode Island deserves a thoughtful Attorney General who is a proven fighter with a long track record of taking on the big fights, working for the people, and never backing down. State Representative @BrandonPotterRI (District 16 - Cranston), first Vice Chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee, said: “The Attorney General needs to be prepared to handle every aspect of the job—from protecting public safety and building a fairer, more effective criminal justice system, to standing up to Trump and ICE overreach, to tackling major challenges like our healthcare crisis. As a former prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and incredibly effective legislator who’s been on the frontlines defending our shared progressive values, Jason Knight has by far the most relevant experience to lead the office. I’m proud to endorse him for Attorney General.”

Chairwoman @SDonovanBristol (District 69 - Bristol, Portsmouth) said: “Over the last decade that I have served together with Jason, I’ve always appreciated his expertise and thoughtful explanations of the legal case for challenging bills that have come before us, especially regarding gun safety. His lawyerly advocacy around particularly thorny issues like banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines has been indispensable to those successes. Jason is also a steadfast supporter of reproductive freedom and of women and minority pay equity, two issues dear to my heart. Jason will be an Attorney General who shows courage, integrity, and a capacity for thoughtful reflection.”

Representative @TerriCortvriend (District 72 - Middletown, Portsmouth), who sits with Rep. Knight on the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, said: “In the six years I’ve sat next to Jason in the chamber, I’ve had a clear lens into how he thinks about policy and law. I’ve often relied on his clear, grounded explanations of Judiciary Committee legislation. Jason is thoughtful and meticulous; details matter to him. He defends his positions with strength and clarity, and he has the steady temperament we need in an Attorney General in these dangerous times.”

It was a pleasure to join Annette Bourbonnierre @AccessInclude earlier this week on the #CripTheVote miniseries of her disability-focused podcast, "Nothing Without Us". These are important conversations that often get lost in the fray. As Attorney General, I'll focus on getting real justice and protecting all our rights. Pleasure to join Dan Yorke this week at NewsTalk 99.7 & AM 630 WPRO for a substantive, wide-ranging conversation that focused on ethics, responsible governance, and what it means to be a good public servant. More than any single issue that falls within the Attorney General's portfolio, it's critical that we elect the right kind of person---one that embodies the character and values that the office calls for. I am honored to receive Everytown for Gun Safety’s support. They have been a great partner in the work to improve our gun safety laws these past ten years, and I am committed to continuing this important work as our next Attorney General. @Everytown president @JohnFeinblatt: “Jason Knight has a long track record of fighting like hell for common sense gun laws, which makes him an ideal candidate for state attorney general, who must hold the line against Trump administration attempts to weaken federal gun laws. As the driving force behind Rhode Island’s ban on assault weapons and straw purchasing, Everytown is proud to endorse Jason Knight for attorney general.” @MomsDemand Action executive director Angela @FerrellZabala: “More than a decade ago, Rhode Island volunteers started filling hearing rooms at the statehouse with nothing but their neighbors’ phone numbers and a refusal to quit, and every gun safety law on the books in this state has their fingerprints on it. Jason Knight has been a partner in that lifesaving work — on gun trafficking, on secure storage, on high-capacity magazines — and now our volunteers will have his back in this campaign.” Together with the prior endorsement of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence, this new endorsement shows I am the consensus choice for gun safety voters in Rhode Island’s Democratic primary election for Attorney General. And I am so proud to work with you all.
