According to Sam Lessin, about 1% of Slow Ventures’ bets turn out to be fraud. His take: if your seed portfolio has no fraud whatsoever, you’re probably not being creative enough. Jason, Sam, and fellow VC roundtable experts Paige Doherty and Jenny Fielding argue that diligence has to scale with the check. If you’re giving out $25K or $100K, you don’t have the time or funds for deep diligence. But if you’re writing a $100M check, you can’t afford to skip it. Hear the panel discuss when a little diligence is good enough and what went wrong with Theranos, FTX, and other infamous disasters on TWiST 2353. @jason, @lessin, @paigefinnn, @jefielding, @slow, @behind_genius, @EverywhereVC, @Lons 0:00 Our new “This Week in VC” newsletter 2:57 Panel intro: Sam Lessin, Paige Doherty, Jenny Fielding 8:51 Why gambling loses appeal for VCs 11:44 Plaud: If your work depends on conversations - interviews, meetings, calls - you need a Plaud NotePin S. Wisdom through experience
Be extremely intentional with your friendships — not acquaintances, not business partners, actual friends Try to pick high-integrity people — the right people Invest time in those relationships Cut or downgrade folks who are transactional or who don’t show up for you Reallocate that time and energy to the right people who do It's ok to be cutthroat about this, as life is the memories you create with your friends and family. Invest in making moments.

“Keep your eye out for the people who've created nothing and risked nothing, but who are attacking the people who risk everything to create Something.”
Let me explain reality… if you have but sixty seconds: They were targeting Elon They were targeting him with fake charges because the socialist-industrial complex is terrified that he would expose their long grift. They came after him for the Model 3 and Elon’s claims around its potential. That potential was realized, and it became, along with the Model Y, the best-selling electric vehicle ever created. These were fake charges to try to stop somebody from building the best category-defining product. Let that sink in: that's how evil these motherfuckers are. The loooooong grift has been exposed: socialist grifters are stealing our tax dollars to fund fringe lunacy, NGOs and government programs without oversight or audits. They’re parasites incapable of creating any product or service that has to compete in the open market. Elon creates a couple of cutting-edge products each year, and half of them succeed. Some of them actually change the world. Some of them fail brutally. It's called capitalism. It's called creation. This is what moves the human condition forward: trying things. Trying really hard things. Socialists come for the people building valuable products and services — that’s the tell Keep your eye out for the people who've created nothing and risked nothing, but who are attacking the people who risk everything to create Something. That's the tell.

Jason Calacanis warns Anthropic’s 5% public-benefit fund could become a “slush fund” and says the cash should go straight to people as shares. Who should control AI’s windfall? The labs? The government? Or every American?

Jason Calacanis calls AI relationships “high level evil” for kids and “abhorrent” for adults. Where should the line be? Ban them for kids? Ban them for everyone? Or let adults decide?

Clone Robotics CEO Dhanush Radhakrishnan builds android muscles from a rubber tube, a braided sleeve, and pressurized water instead of motors. Who builds the first truly human-like robot? Clone? Tesla Optimus? Or Figure?

Jason watches a lot of non-fiction films but he says Nathan Fielder’s Elizabeth Holmes profile “You Can See Everything” is “the greatest documentary of all time.” It’s currently hitting 98% with both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, which almost NEVER happens. Hear his spoiler-free reaction on today’s brand-new TWiST. Plus how Clone Robotics CEO Dhanush Radhakrishnan has completely rethought the mechanics of humanoid robots in a quest to make them maximally lifelike and realistic, and why Jason prefers Elon’s “give every kid a share of SpaceX” plan to Anthropic’s Public Benefit Fund. @jason, @lons, @clonerobotics, @dhanushisread, @nathanfielder, @ElizabethHolmes, @A24 0:00 Intro 0:10 Plaud - If your work depends on conversations - interviews, meetings, calls - you need a Plaud NotePin S. This from one of the smartest tech guys around. .@AllInPodcast .@Jason Ro Khanna is an embarrassment. .@RoKhanna
Let me fix that tweet for you: 1. The people rioting in Paris are criminals who are committing crimes. 2. Destroying hard-working people’s businesses is evil and not a valid form of protest.

I think this is spot on. The riots and anarchy from radical anti-western forces in multiple European countries and Antifa type groups here in the US are not to be celebrated. They are to be fought and stopped. They are quickly becoming the new Al Qaeda and the fact they somehow got immigration status in these countries doesn't change what they are. Let's not elect people that sympathize with them burning down our churches, our towns, and our businesses. It is NEVER OK. It is NEVER ACCEPTABLE.

Why I think @Jason is uniquely qualified and should be given serious consideration for this position: -his background as a journalist -wide knowledge of the tech industry and how it works -years of hosting multiple podcasts -including obviously the @theallinpod, in which capacity he has moderated countless conversations (and I presume developed relationships) with the world’s leading innovators, politicians, and thought leaders. He’s quick on his feet, has a sense of humor, and it would be an advantage to the @WhiteHouse to have a press secretary who possesses his level of understanding of AI/SI in addition to his media credentials. Plus, his besties are already doing it. ♠️ Perfect spot for JCal to join the team. Someone please relay to the top. 🇺🇸 Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I went through the transcript of this entire podcast episode that Billy Evans did. It dropped 10/15, so the day before the movie released. And this is pretty much the only meaningful conversation about You Can See Everything. Most everything else is stuff we hear in the movie. We do get more details about how he and Elizabeth Holmes met.
