It’s time to call out the scaremongering and misinformation around reform of the Triple Lock. Either we do nothing - which the opposition wants us to do - and Irish peacekeeping abroad could end. Or we act to reform the Triple Lock, and protect our proud peacekeeping tradition.

Government shamefully votes to abolish the Triple Lock, which is at the core of our neutrality according to Micheál Martin. This is not the end. It still has to get through multiple stages of the Oireachtas. We need to build pressure to stop them and allow the people to decide.

When you hear Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael say abolishing the #TripleLock won't undermine neutrality, you need to remember that these are parties that also say allowing Shannon airport to be used as a US military base for decades doesn't undermine neutrality.

Addressing the audience, Hetfield said Metallica was not there to influence fans with political agendas but to help them escape the outside world through “love, energy and heavy music.” His remarks came weeks after rapper Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran's US tour following his onstage “Free Palestine” speech in support of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Although Hetfield did not name Macklemore or any other artist, his comments have drawn attention over musicians using their platforms to address political issues.
