UPDATE: An Amtrak construction crew accidentally cut into a fiber line in New Jersey which caused a telecom outage and forced FAA to pause flights in the Northeast.
Right now:
- Flights are resuming at LGA and PHL
- Flights into EWR, JFK, and Teterboro Airport are paused
This incident underscores the need for additional funding to modernize aging infrastructure and prevent disruptions like this in the future.
Follow @FAANews for updates.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Amtrak stated the cut was by a New Jersey Transit contractor on NJ Transit property, not an Amtrak crew. businessinsider.com/faa-outage-new… nbcnewyork.com/new-jersey/new…

Bottom line— a circuit that was in line to be replaced failed. The back up system uses a fiber line was severed in what appears to be a construction accident somewhere between New Brunswick and Newark in New Jersey. Approx 600 feet of fiber got ripped out and severed per FAA.

Landon says you would've had to drag him off the field in a World Cup knockout game.
"The reality is, Tim, [Pulisic] came out of a World Cup knockout game at home with his leg still intact. I'm saying this to you, Tim, and you know it because you've played with me, you would've had to fucking drag me off the field. And I would've punched the doctor in the face and said, 'You're not taking me off the field. Put whatever you need to put in me, and I'm staying on the field.' I told you this before, I never shared this publicly until a few months ago, I played with a torn hamstring against Ghana after the Algeria game. Nobody knew about it. I didn't have to tell anyone. There was no drama around it. I just did it."

THIS IS BEYOND THE PALE.
@GovSherrillNJ indeed was in Morris County yesterday, extending the invite to meet with D25 "select mayors" and Reps, conveniently, as that district is represented by 2Rs AND ONE D. NJ's 24th Legislative District was arguably hit the hardest, yet excluded with intent. You read between the lines.
When I directly questioned this, I received a text message response about just how wonderfully responsive the Governor is. You cannot make this level of gaslighting up.
It's one thing to be excluded from disgusting pork spending. Par for the course. It's another thing that during an emergency, this Governor would play politics with people's lives.
GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE WORLD CUP AND FIREWORKS and check out Green Township. Wantage Township. Montague Township. Washington Township. Chester Township. Roxbury Township (SEE LETTER BELOW) ALL IN THE 24TH.
UNETHICAL. FOUL. Shame on this administration.

The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season just started, but Florida is dedicated to disaster preparedness all year round. We always plan for the worst that nature can throw at us, and we execute those plans to ensure effective response, recovery, and restoration.
I encourage all Florida residents and visitors to have a household plan for hurricane season that considers the needs of children, seniors, and pets in their family. Disaster preparedness essentials—including many pet items—are now tax-free in Florida.
Make sure to follow @FLSERT and your local emergency management for important updates heading into this hurricane season!

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, a Jazz Aviation flight operating on behalf of Air Canada was involved in an incident on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in which the aircraft struck a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident.
Emergency response protocols were immediately activated. The Port Authority Police Department is on scene along with the agency’s Chairman and Executive Director. The airport is currently closed to facilitate the response and allow for a thorough investigation.
This is a developing situation based on preliminary information. The Port Authority Police Department is working closely with our airline partners as well as federal authorities and will provide additional updates as more details become available.

It is tragic and devastating to see so many Democratic members, simply because of their hatred of everything Donald Trump, come to the aid of the world’s greatest sponsor of terrorism, the Islamic radical regime of Iran. These people hate Trump more than they love our country.
