Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe the only legitimate government is one presided over by an emperor descended by blood from the sun goddess Amaterasu and protected from foreign barbarians by the Japanese Imperial Army, and that the Dutch are fit only to be slaves.

Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

A cutting reflection from Cardinal Ratzinger, Good Friday 2005:
"Pilate is not utterly evil. He knows that the condemned man is innocent, and he looks for a way to free him. But his heart is divided. And in the end he lets his own position, his own self-interest, prevail over what is right.
Nor are the men who are shouting and demanding the death of Jesus utterly evil. Many of them, on the day of Pentecost, will feel "cut to the heart," when Peter will say to them: "Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God... you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law."
But at that moment they are caught up in the crowd. They are shouting because everyone else is shouting, and they are shouting the same thing that everyone else is shouting. And in this way, justice is trampled underfoot by weakness, cowardice and fear of the diktat of the ruling mindset. The quiet voice of conscience is drowned out by the cries of the crowd.
Evil draws its power from indecision and concern for what other people think."

The establishment of legal euthanasia doesn't just open up a new choice for free individuals. It begins to replace our old duty to care for the elderly, with a new duty for the elderly not to be burdensome to the productive. With our demographic future, its easy to see the mass murder to come. nationalreview.com/2026/01/t…

Good morning; the rapture is an eschatological heresy made up by a renegade Anglican priest in 1830s Ireland, and popularized by a heterodox Presbyterian in Gilded Age America. Relax. Do God’s work. Have a great day.

I have to admit. You’ve persuaded me that neither the right nor the left can be trusted with protecting civil liberties.
So, alas, it seems the only solution is a system of checks and balances on limited govt with a federal govt with only specifically enumerated powers.

I cried a lot last night without really understanding why. I told my husband that it might be because Charlie Kirk's children are just like ours, our daughters are the same age to the month. I can't imagine our little girl watching her dad die. Or rather, I did imagine it. A lot.
But there's also a heaviness hanging in that a lot of people seem to be noticing. "It feels like we've crossed a precipice," "the vibes are off," "something bad is coming." A few people said they viscerally felt the spawning of evil in the world, like a wasp's nest hitting the ground and exploding.
I don't know what's going on. I'm praying for discernment and guidance. I am afraid of planting my feet on the wrong side of a line. I think in the coming months and years there will be many important lines to stand ahead of or behind, and many ways to be misled about which to do
