A fascinating molecular machine. Is this structure available on the PDB website? If so, what is its code?

Thanks Joel. Your model fits nicely into a science textbook. Well done on the nucleus and the endoplasmic reticulum.

Nice work poly modeling the Golgi apparatus. I used metaballs to build the mesh followed by some sculpting and textures to make it look like pancakes.

Today marks 1 year of freelance work. Made this image to celebrate the occasion. #b3d #Blender3d

Thanks. :) I asked because their tutorial mention 2.79. I'll use 2.82.

Did you import it in blender 2.79 or 2.8?

Thanks Brady for sharing this. I've been looking for a way to import molecular dynamics simulations into blender. What is the file size of your blend file?

Fantastic animation from @janetiwasa. Make sure to take a look at the paper from @Henrykl_hankkl.

Excellent work. This paper will come in handy.

This is fantastic. Excellent work Brady.

Keep adding more rigid body constraint empties. I ended up with 12 empties for my virus. Depending on your project, you may want to add extra proteins. If you do, consider constraining some together. Please tag me in your finished animation so I can see it.😀

Nice work. 👍 Looks like your project is coming together. Here is my force field settings. As for rotation of the proteins, make sure that Affect Rotation enabled. If that doesn't work, you may need to increase the field Strength.

Repeat the process for all the empties at different frames. Then you will have a simulation that you can render out and then reverse. Just don't do my mistake of making it look like popcorn. 😋

Once all the empties were set up, I would play through the simulation to find a good time to separate a piece. In this case I chose frame 121. On frame 120 I keyframed the threshold at 10. On frame 121 I keyframed the threshold at 0. Now the piece is free to move away.

Under the objects panel, select the two objects that the empty sits between. You can use the eyedropper tool to select the objects. Important note: Start with the centre and work outwards. With a human ragdoll, First would be the body and Second would be the limbs or head.

I set the constraint type to Fixed so that the rigid body objects remain stuck to each other. Enable the Breakable option so that the two rigid bodies can separate later in the animation.
