The personal names of emperors were taboo in imperial China, so nothing new here. The priests will come up with an appropriate temple name in due course after he's gone.

If that had happened, we wouldn’t have gotten this wonderful tidbit saluting the group that became Al Qaeda.

More than three years away with plenty of time to change their mind...
💥BREAK: Burnham says he will adjust triple lock from 2030. In April 2030. State pension will rise instead by prices or 2.5%. Say change will generate ‘significant savings’, to be put into national care service

Retour des cendres 2: electric bonagloo
BREAK: Nigel Farage says under a Reform government the body of Napoleon III could be returned from England to France. The last French emperor's final resting place is in The Imperial Crypt at St Michael's Abbey in Farnborough. He died in exile in England in 1873 following the fall of the Second Empire. His body was never returned to France because they didn't want it, and due to his wife's wishes. She was later buried alongside him.

This must surely be the first time Count Binface has been compared to Napoleon
In 2010 Farage stood against Bercow in Buckingham. None of the main parties put up a candidate. He got 17%. A man with a bin on his head got 27% against Farage and Reform are spinning it like the greatest victory since Nelson beat Napoleon (Count Boneyface?) at Trafalgar

I suppose Al Carns didn't storm the premises armed with an automatic rifle and flanked by John Healey and Ben Wallace.
I’m in the room where it is all about to happen. It’s like a World Cup final. Can Burnham really win the Labour leadership? No one can possibly know. What a tense contest

Given that Andrew Lansley was Conservative MP for a South Cambridgeshire between 1997 and 2015 and Count Raczynski was never an MP and died in 1993, I can only imagine the noble and learned lord has been the victim of an AI hallucination.
Were he to win the by-election, I think Binface would be the first Count in the House of Commons since Count Edward Raczyński (Conservative MP for South Cambridgeshire 1997-2010)? However, by convention MPs may not address the House wearing a hat: a constitutional crisis awaits.

Stanley being, among other things, Leopold II's agent in the Congo Free State. But we like to forget about that bit of his career.
England v DR Congo is the only World Cup Round of 32 game where one country’s highest mountain was named after a member of parliament of the other. DR Congo’s highest point, Mt Stanley (5,109 m / 16,763 ft), was named after Sir Henry Stanley (‘Dr Livingston, I presume?). Stay tuned for more cutting-edge, geography-based World Cup analysis.

UPDATE: Letters from Leo can now independently confirm that the meeting took place — and that the Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Pope Leo XIV shelved plans to visit the United States later this year. Many in the Vatican saw the Pentagon’s reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.

'Executive orders' are a foreign concept to the British constitution because the prime minister is not a president. Perhaps Farage is intent on usurping the throne?
