I mean, Champ Car in its final season(2007) did have timed races of 1 hiur 45 minutes. So seeing exclusively timed races make a comeback would be awkward imo.

Watching the World Cup gave me an idea….let’s have a timed race, say 2hrs, then let’s throw a “hydration break” caution, then we’ll just keep adding time while the racing is good and throw the checkered at some arbitrary moment after it all winds down.
