✨ So proud of this paper, now published in @Nature! We ran ** 5 ** randomized trials providing education in emergencies w/ NGOs & governments at a time of historic need and uncertainty during the pandemic. Evidence really mattered. We reversed "voltage drops" when scaling across contexts; instead effects improved over time, showing a "learning curve" nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

We’re excited to partner with @JPAL to help connect GEEAP’s evidence on cost-effective education approaches with policy work across regions — supporting better use of evidence to improve foundational learning in LMICs. More to come! #GEEAP #JPAL #Education

Last month, I joined 30+ leaders in Hong Kong, from across Asia, the Middle East, and North America to explore how evidence can inform better philanthropy. Throughout the three days, we discussed impact measurement, cost effectiveness, theory of change, government partnerships, and what it takes to scale. Thanks to the Institute of Philanthropy for convening this group of leaders and to all the participants for their eagerness to engage and thoughtful insights. @JPAL @JPAL_SEA

AI can help governments and nonprofits identify needs earlier, deliver personalized support, reduce administrative burden, support frontline workers, and use scarce resources more effectively, especially when development needs are large and public budgets are under strain. But AI’s potential does not automatically translate into impact. Whether it improves lives depends on how it is designed, deployed, used, evaluated, and adapted over time. J-PAL’s AI Evidence Playbook helps policymakers, practitioners, and donors ask practical questions before adopting or scaling AI: What problem will it solve? What task will it support? Who needs to use it? What assumptions must hold? How will we know whether it improves outcomes? Read the Playbook here: j-p.al/ai-evidence-playbook @JPAL

Thanks to @IndiasporaForum for hosting the 2026 Indiaspora Forum last month in Bangalore. It was a great convening of the global Indian diaspora across geographies, industries, and generations. I joined a panel on Making the Next Billion in Global Giving Count, along with Karan Bilimoria (UK House of Lords) and Deepak Chopra (Freedom Employability Academy), moderated by Swetha Totapally (Dalberg). I stressed how evidence-informed private philanthropy can be catalytic for governments and non-profits to work together to greatly increase the impact and scale of social development programs in India. @JPAL @JPAL_SA
