Great point from @thomas_mock: coding is not a linear journey from beginner -> intermediate -> expert, it's expanding your toolset for the right job at the right time. I think "just in time learning" can be v. effective, especially in a big field like data science! #rstatsnyc

Just a reminder that scientists shouldn't HAVE to be experts at everything. Science, communication, and design are 3 different expertises with only some overlap. Why aren't we (scientific community) engaging experts for posters as we insist on for our science?

Far too often at poster sessions, I see people with huge paragraphs of text. That’s BAD, but no one says anything and it becomes normalized. Teach good design skills. We need more art in science! That main idea sentence should be your TITLE, the other material should be DATA!
