You are crazy if you think you’re gonna play #GTAVI on November 19. If you’re gonna take a day off, I’d suggest the 23rd (Monday) rather than 19th (Thursday). I just don’t think the server infrastructure will be able to handle all the downloads at once.

Finished the campaign for #acecombat8 (thanks @SkillUpYT , your video finally got me to play) I desperately want the Ace Combat team to do a Macross/Robotech game. The melodrama of the campaign felt very anime. Would love to navigate space dogfighting with a veritech fighter.

Geez.. the quality of these @Nintendo games! I’m already strapped for how much I can spend and September looks to be wild with November’s GTAVI looming… Now I gotta think about #splatoonraiders and #fireemblemfortunesweave

14 levels of management seems like a lot, but for large corporations it isn’t unusual. It’s a way to keep people in within pay bands for longer by splitting levels into segments. CEO/Exec/Director/Manager/IC Now split each into sub categories Associate/Jr./Sr./Staff/Principle

Ultimately this is used to keep individuals in specific pay bands, fighting tooth and nail for a minor bump within the same band. From Associate to Junior then to Senior then to Staff to Principle. This could take 10 years. And pay bumps and responsibilities grow in increments.

While a flatter org makes sense, for large org structures, this will last 3-5 years, when people want promotions and upper management can’t promote to the next pay band. Then it’ll start to fragment again to keep people happy (by getting a new title).

In my opinion, the Id Software engineering teams should be rehired and be used to make the next Halo game. Doomslayer = Master Chief

While watching Mission: Impossible 2 and it’s over the top action and stunts, my kids asked if Leon Kennedy is based off Ethan Hunt. I laughed, looked it up, and turns out they were right!

We already know what’s going to happen to the game industry right? Just look at Smartphones, SaaS, ISPs, etc. 1. Subsidize hardware with long term contracts. Want a console potentially free? You just have to sign a 5-8 year contract for the online platform subscription…🧵

2. Replace load times with commercials that play (maybe on system boot up, software updates, starting a new game or software, overrides some other commercial) 3. Create a platform that allows buying/selling software and taking a portion of that. (NFTs or something similar)

Everyone knows the saying about rising tides raising all boats… But the game industry right now is a lowering tide… or maybe a whirlpool would be more apt. We HAVE to collectively pull out of the death spiral… together.

youtu.be/A93084tccSc?si=m6SG… The title of this video belittles so many other studios. What is meant by “best”? I’m a fan of @IGN, but having worked at publishers and studios, this kind of wording does little to help the conversation. I suggest “AAA” or “top tier”,

Watching Jason Rubin’s career in video. So happy to see @yosp and Ted Price in the video. Makes me reminisce about being at PlayStation with these incredible titans.

Laura Miele (Electronic Arts) Another great chat @thegamebusiness live event about ecosystems, community building/ co-creation and player sentiments to IP. Understandably, couldn’t chat about the Saudi Arabia purchase. Check out the talk when @Chris_Dring posts it.

Matthew Ball did a great job in my opinion (very clear and honest) You should listen to the talk when @Chris_Dring posts on Game Business Live.

Matthew Ball- “Xbox is core to the business.” But Microsoft is also looking at other ways of serving other platforms (because of supply issues) This includes PC and cloud services.

Matthew Ball - Microsoft committed to Helix and looking closely at markets in an additive way, not exclusionary way.
