I am hopeful and optimistic too, Commander. Troubled times ahead for sure and we need to be well equipped to confront diverse scenarios and challenges - with one goal - to make #India outshine others. 👍🏻

Very aptly covered - there is no place for starlink in India 🇮🇳. It is not in the strategic interest of Bharat 🇮🇳. Need to promote only Indian 🇮🇳 companies which have a track record of “India First” initiatives and provide DATA at reasonable cost down to the lowest strata .

#Starlink’s performance in #Ukraine has raised serious reliability concerns, sparking opposition to its launch in #India. Some so called nationalist prominent #Indian figures pushing for the service are compromising national sovereignty by aligning too closely with #US interests.
-And unreliable Starlink wanted to come to #India -Sadly, some prominent Indians were promoting it

Joy oh Joy!:-)
The happiest time for an author is when he receives his author copies of a new book :-) A journey in writing that started 6 years ago. I didn't think then that I would publish a single book, let alone 5 at a rate of nearly one a year. MAHAKSHANA! Preorder Link: bit.ly/Mahakshana @LipikaB @PenguinIndia

Great news
HAL’s UH-M (twin-engine naval utility helicopter) is quietly taking shape as the Chetak’s indigenous successor. Folding rotor/tail, flotation gear…and *built* for shipborne ops. Maiden flight expected around November (as per a media byte by CMD HAL). Deliveries from 2027. Total number (IN + ICG) = 76. Some defence blogs (especially idrw @idrwalerts ) also say that the UH-M is planned to be armed with the indigenous NASM-SR (Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Short Range). These reports say the Navy has requested it & that NASM-SR has already been tested from Sea King helicopters. Mainstream reporting and @HALHQBLR / @indiannavy statements only mention “provision for weapons integration” & “limited combat roles”. There is no official confirmation yet on the times lines or the configuration. Fingers crossed 🤞 on both counts…

-#India clears path for 3 more Kalvari-class submarines -CCS to approve ₹33000 Cr proposal to build 3 additional Kalvari-class submarines at MDL -New subs to have ~60% indigenous content—nearly double the 30–35% achieved in original Kalvari -Improved stealth, modern electronics, Indian combat-management system, upgraded weapons & sensors, indigenous AIP, heavy-weight torpedoes, SLCMs -#IndianNavy fleet grows from 6 to 9 -Critical for countering #China’s expanding naval presence in IOR & positioning Type 39B submarines in #Pakistan

The internal #PLAAF report is a disaster. Turns out, when your entire engineering strategy is Ctrl+C + Ctrl+V, you shouldn't be surprised when the sky returns an "Error 404: Air Superiority Not Found". The #Rafale sliced through the sky while the J-16 flew like a brick wall.

I intend to write a series of articles titled "Busting Myths: Buyer’s Air Arm in a Builder’s Navy?"  It is sometimes said, rather unfairly, that whilst the surface component of the Indian Navy has displayed a remarkable innovative streak and pushed for indigenisation, the same cannot be said for naval aviation. My personal view, after having seen things closely as a naval officer and as someone who actually handled innovation for the Navy, has always been quite the opposite. The smaller cadres (the divers, submariners and aviators) are, as per me, more open to innovative ideas than less. Yes, we still have imported aircraft in our inventory, the ‘innovative’ streak is nonetheless apparent, and has been over decades. Facts must, therefore, be stated upfront and dispassionately examined…so that the right lessons may be gleaned. The facts (which I will substantiate in my articles) stand as these: The Navy first mooted the idea of inducting helicopters for defence use; when the idea didn’t find favour with the other two services, the Navy was still the first to move an individual procurement case for helicopters; the first helicopter pilot in India (civil or defence) was a naval officer; the Navy first facilitated licenced manufacture of helicopters in India; the Navy was the first to fit weapons and sensors on helicopters; the Navy first moved a case for multi-engine helicopters; the first to induct contra-rotary birds; the first to move a case for Air-Borne Early Warning (AEW); the first to fit EW systems on helicopters (including indigenous EW); the first (indirectly) to propose and support the licenced manufacture of fixed wing aircraft in India; and, the first to then change the role of these aircraft to Information Warfare platforms. If we argue that it is not just about platforms, the Navy was also the first amongst the services to have satellite communication, a service wide intranet (NEWN), Software Defined Radios, satellite navigation, GPS and DGPS, an in-house developed software radio modem to enable exchange of positions, a ‘Common Operational Picture’ ,and, GAGAN enabled landing at a military airfield (INS Hansa). If we consider the ongoing changes in warfare, while everyone spoke about it, the Navy was the first to “put its money where its mouth is”. The first confirmed order for service-wide small multi-copter drones was by the Navy. First formal support (in terms of confirmed development cases and committed Minimum Order Quantity) to the HAPS and loyal-wingmen concepts was from the Navy as well, even though both these concepts have been steered by retired Air Force pilots @joe_sameer & @hvtiaf. It may therefore be unfair to say that naval aviation has lagged behind.  I am doing research from primary sources. I am relatively well familiar with the @indiannavy account or the history. I am now reading @bharatrakshak @vayusena & @CAPS_INDIA. I have come across some fascinating insights by @architgupta about initial rotary wing developments. The first in the series of articles is about helicopters. Will put it out tomorrow. Dorniers next. When I reach the later parts I will also speak to doyens of naval aviation innovation & indigenisation like @JA_Maolankar to get first hand insights.

I happen to stay at his house on more than one occasion. My observation. He had taken into his fold a large number of local villagers for whom he cared for. He supported them, their children's education etc. His farm produce incl fruits, vegetables, crops was distributed among the needy in nearby villages. Animals, cows, dogs staying in his place & were taken well care of. Their food, treatment and care was regulated. He had once shared that his earnings from films was spent on NAAM foundation, the trust which he founded for looking after farmers and their families who committed suicide in Maharashtra due to non payment of loans. He developed water lines in the villages where there was drought. Always cheerful, positive, helping out and forthcoming. He will be truly missed by lakhs whom he touched by his deeds. Nana Patekar You will be missed. Om Shanti.

If Starlink is so benevolent then why it is not providing cheap data in its own country? #India #Starlink
🤖 Made with AI
Starlink in India would enable high-speed, affordable Internet connectivity for those who can’t afford current prices or who don’t have a connection at all!
