The World Cup is the best sporting event in the world. A country that has a population less than New York City filled a stadium over 3,000 miles away and belted out their national anthem. Sports are just the absolute best.

Question for @BBCDavidWL … Crown Office just confirmed that no other SNP member (apart from accused) ever used or saw the motorhome, did it not? Seems significant given the antics of the Scottish press to suggest that at least one (prominent) other member must have seen it?

Let me get this straight: One person stealing money from a political party … is a bigger scandal than, say, taking to UK into an illegal war that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people by lying to the public? Ffs… a lot of people have lost the plot, in a big way.
'You simply can’t overstate how much damage this has done to Scotland’s international reputation and to the entire independence movement' 👇

Can you even *imagine* anything like this conversation happening on the BBC? Yet another example of why we urgently need to become a normal country, like Ireland.

This is interesting, if the analysis is correct. And it’s possible to read it and find it illuminating, while also coming to rather different conclusions about the extent that criticism should/shouldn’t be levelled at Nicola Sturgeon, or John Swinney.
1/ Something very important is being missed in the Peter Murrell coverage. And it explains why Murrell was able to carry on the embezzlement long after he should have been stopped. And why John Swinney cannot hide behind the “victim of criminality” defence.🧵

Just watched bbc news. @BBCJamesCook said that ‘the SNP insists it has been the victim of this crime’. The word ‘insists’ is an extremely odd and telling choice of word. If the SNP is not the victim, then, pray tell… who or what is? Why would they have to ‘insist’?
Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell has admitted embezzling more than £400,000 from the party over more than a decade See more on this story here: bbc.in/4wNmfwz

Now @GlennBBC is at it too. Glenn, you say the SNP is being ‘presented as’ the victim of this crime. If the snp isn’t the victim of this crime, who or what is? Why ‘presented’ as, as opposed to ‘is’? What a striking, and telling, choice of word.

This incoherence sums up the SPFL. Goes on about ‘we note that x is been a criminal offence in a different country’… ‘so please report criminality in this country’… eh? Is x an offence here, or not? None the wiser. And what are you actually going to DO? Nothing, presumably? 🤦‍♀️
SPFL Statement "Firstly, we send our congratulations to Celtic on winning the William Hill Premiership in the most exciting of circumstances and send our commiserations to everyone at Heart of Midlothian following an incredible campaign. “We would also like to thank the referee and his excellent team of match officials for their cool heads on such a dramatic day. Given the speculation about the conclusion of the game, we would like to make clear that, prior to awarding the trophy, we were informed by the match referee that the match had ended and had not been abandoned. "Yesterday’s match showed off the very best of the Scottish game and the drama and excitement that it is rightly famed for. The eyes of the world were on Glasgow and the climax of the William Hill Premiership, with millions of viewers watching the match on Sky Sports and across the globe. "However, we utterly condemn the scenes which saw a number of Celtic supporters encroach onto the field of play. We await the report of our match delegate regarding any specific incidents that took place but, regardless, supporters entering the field of play in any circumstances is wholly unacceptable and puts those participating and working at a match at risk. We note that entering the pitch in England and Wales has been a criminal offence since 1991. We urge anyone with information about any alleged criminal activity to contact Police Scotland."

Scotland is indeed a ‘naturally independent country’.

Seriously think this should be given consideration if the Electoral Commission continues to bury its head in the sand about this… Independent Labour Conservatives for Scotland Democratic Liberals.
Replying to @msm_monitor
That's a good idea, we can flood the ballot papers with confusing empty party names and see what they say to that.

The speech by Keir Starmer this morning made no mention of #Wales, #Scotland or #NorthernIreland. How very odd, to say the least.

I voted No in the independence referendum because I thought it was a dumb distraction from the urgent need to drastically reform and improve Westminster, in everyone’s best interest. I then got an incredibly brutal 12-year demonstration of how stupid I was to have believed that.

This comment at the bottom, IMO, is a very, very odd and worrying thing for the BBC’s Political Correspondent to say…
