This is a first ever visit by Indian military officials from CDM to Cyprus which comprised of 24 officers from Army, Airforce and Navy, giving them a perspective on bilateral, regional and international perspectives to future strategic leaders. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 apprised the visiting 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 delegation of the expanding 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮–𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 and the momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges. His briefing covered Cyprus’s strategic significance in the Eastern Mediterranean, developments in West Asia, the Cyprus question and India’s longstanding contribution to UN peacekeeping on the island. The Defence Secretary proposed an 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹-𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 to advance discussions on the Defence Cooperation Roadmap and bilateral cooperation opportunities. Such an exchange would help develop proposals for consideration during the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗿𝘂𝘀’𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳. India has consistently supported the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Cyprus. Indian soldiers have a long association with the island’s security, including General K.S.
