Every city is designed for a default user. Rarely is it a woman doing the school drop-off, the groceries and a visit to an ageing parent in a single trip. Yet that is how many women move. They make more frequent, shorter trips with several stops, more often with children or elderly relatives, and rely more on public transport. Transit, meanwhile, is still organised around peak commuting, and even something as basic as bus-stop lighting is underfunded. lnkd.in/p/eRXxc82w

#Accessibility isn’t only about where people can go. It’s also about when. For shift workers, carers, parents and people working long hours, daylight visits are not always possible. A park can be physically open yet feel out of reach once darkness falls. Lighting is part of accessibility infrastructure. For people with low vision, seeing path edges, changes in level, obstacles and signs can be essential to moving independently. The UK’s Inclusive Mobility guidance highlights the importance of lighting while addressing glare, shadows and sudden changes in brightness. lnkd.in/p/e7MXddne

If we’re serious about reducing injuries from house fires, why are sprinklers still so often a minimum compliance conversation? UK research found that homes fitted with sprinklers had around half the non-fatal injury rate recorded across dwelling fires overall. Where sprinklers operated, average fire damage was under 4 m². Across all dwelling fires in England during the comparison period, it was 18–21 m². lnkd.in/p/eJiBuMu2 The case for domestic sprinklers in all homes not just in high rise flats as required by the #BuildingRegulations2010 less damage = less loss of life and irreplaceable of worthless family heirlooms in residential fires and reduced insurance premiums.

If 38% of Gen Z adults say they feel safe when a fire door is wedged open, and only 40% can correctly explain what a fire door actually does, is the problem the fire door itself, or the way were educating people about it? The findings suggest there is a growing gap between the safety systems we install and the publics understanding of why those systems matter. lnkd.in/p/exd-CDUt This is a frightening result, assuming it is accurate nearly half of Gen Z adults are likely to place themselves and other building occupants at significantly heightened risk in event of a building fire. Responsibility for fire safety cannot solely rest with building designers, fire risk assessors and Responsible Persons, all building occupants need to play their part. Education also needs to play its role, anyone thinking a fire door is simply a door painted red, has a dangerous misunderstanding.

Considering vulnerable occupants in a fire risk assessment A fire risk assessment that only considers a building’s “average” occupant misses a lot. Vulnerable occupants are anyone with reduced mobility, sensory impairment or cognitive differences, or simply someone unfamiliar with the building. They change what “adequate” escape provision actually looks like. Good assessments ask specifically who uses the building, not just what the building is. lnkd.in/p/eC9Z5TeP

Piddington village is suing the Home Office, alleging it acted unlawfully by failing to consider the threat a new asylum camp could pose to wildlife. 🔗:telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

It’s that time of the year again where all the extra plinths get placed in front of shelving for Xmas, which coupled with general poor & thoughtless management of shop floor space means that unless you can shape shift you are royally #DisabledByTheSupermarkets

.@Channel4News the PM @andyburnham @10DowningStreet turned down our invitation to mark International White Cane Safety Day 12/10/26 where many people travelled from across the county to explain their concerns over floating bus stops. Appearing on goggle box was more important 😢.
Replying to @PolitlcsUK
.@andyburnham @10DowningStreet Words fail. We asked you to meet people affected by floating bus stops but you were too busy. If you were not so busy doing goggle box you could have met them including Sheila from Colchester fighting to protect her bus stops m.youtube.com/watch?v=CzLf8l…

How is it possible that this man is still a judge ?
This is Judge Ian Darling. He let Afghan migrant Abdul Barkeeh Salihi walk free from court after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. He was fined just £400. Abdul's address was given as a taxpayer funder asylum hotel in Oxford. Should he be detained and deported?

This is clearly insane. A charity set up to maintain London’s bridges is sitting on £1.5 BILLION, funding political campaigns and giving £1.1m to a group with links to a charity now under investigation over alleged Hamas connections. Meanwhile, Hammersmith Bridge is still closed and other Thames crossings are crumbling. What on earth are @cityoflondon doing? Via @Fhamiltontimes in @TheTimes thetimes.com/article/1932707…

Remember before activism got a hold of once sensible institutions over 80% of children with body or gender dysmorphia grew out of it after normal puberty. To retain healthy bodies. Puberty is not an illness. It’s vital healthy human development
Do you think it is fair that parents, therapists and religious leaders could spend up to five years behind bars for having well-intentioned conversations with gender-confused children or sharing their faith’s teachings? We at the Free Speech Union certainly do not. Parents, above all, should be able to have these important conversations with their children. But the Government clearly disagrees. The draft bill to ban conversion therapy, introduced by the Starmer Government, could see parents who attempt to dissuade their gender-confused children from embarking on dangerous, life-changing and irreversible medical pathways locked up for five years. Unlike previous iterations of conversion therapy ban bills, this bill does not include the same carve-outs for parents and religious leaders. That was a political choice. This bill is a blatant assault on religious freedom and free speech. The Free Speech Union opposes it. ✍️ Sign the FSU petition calling on Andy Burnham to drop this disastrous bill 👇

Thank you to @newdawn75 for her message to @andyburnham @10DowningStreet ‘Well unfortunately we are back here again, because no one is listening to us. Mr Burnham I want all floating bus stops to be halted. It is dangerous when you get off a bus with a white cane or a Guide Dog’.

Pensioner calls out ‘watch me’ as e-bike rider jumps red light at speed directly infront of her at St Thomas’s Hospital in London. One of many people riding bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters & cargo bikes in this manner. This is terrifying, dangerous & illegal.

The PM is telling us to prepare for a national emergency: Russian attack, flooding, internet meltdown, gas shortages, cyberattack, etc. But don’t worry Burnham’s on Gogglebox. Has Britain ever had a less serious leader?

Crime has increased since 2018, this roughly coincides with the arrival of small boats across the channel.
U.K. crime passes 7 million incidents a year for the first time. Don’t let the government spin the figures - facts are facts. Our streets have become more dangerous.
