RAT & molecular test stats = compared to “gold standard” PCR - which perform much worse than we think
PCR sensitivity ~80%: "best-case" - real-world likely different
Sensitivity & specificity like "miles per gallon" sticker 🙄
@michaelmina_lab: Thoughts?

I had Claude AI do a comparison of the research on Azelastine & Iota Carrageenan nasal sprays for preventing Covid & other respiratory infection infections & for treating them.
There is a clear winner, which has been on the market since the 1980s.

Welcome back to smoke season!
Update: I bought a large carbon filter from a hydroponics/grow-op store and a 6" duct fan to match. It removes the VOCs and smell. I've tried hooking it up with a dryer duct to a window and CR box and just running it in a room

With the horrible air quality from #ABWildfire I’ve put some MERV13 rated furnace filters in my windows so we can get clean, cool air in the house. It filters pollution out of the air as it blows into the house. Filtrete1900’s are MERV13. #yeg #yyc

Good article on wildfire health impacts...please stay safe. Filtering indoor air is really important. More CR boxes will be on the way thanks to @LieslMcconchie . We may come collect air samples.

The current meltdown in California insurance market — which is one of the major factors behind the number of homes built in extreme high fire hazard zones — dates to 1988.
That’s the year California voters passed Prop 103.

So, if I want carbon to filter on low, I want HEPA separate, because where the goal is to clear viruses, it needs high fan speeds/CFM/CADR
I have *plenty* of HEPA elsewhere
Again, **use cases** are key!
So, neighbor cooks > into my apartment > hi VOCs, fan > hi
Rest of the time: fan > lo
No question hi speed quickly reduces VOCs, but bc levels spike unpredictably, harder to determine best speed across the day - low takes much more time to see changes
I’ll watch IAQ monitor

Yes, it is definitely also airborne. It's just that the risk of infection over fomites is more significant in comparison.
