A student is caught cheating. The professor does the only correct thing: throws him out.
That's not cruelty โ that's the bare minimum owed to every student in that hall who didn't cheat.
The student, humiliated, takes his own life.
That is a genuine tragedy, and nothing that follows should be read as trivializing it.
But then his father steps in โ not to grieve, not to reckon with what happened, but to blame the professor's caste bias. Students march.
Processions form.
The professor, who did his job, becomes the villain.
Here's what actually happened: a young man was caught doing something dishonest, and rather than face that fact, his family reached for caste as a shield.
That's not justice for a grieving father โ it's a refusal to look at what actually killed his son.
I condemn that refusal.
I condemn turning a professor's rightful call into a caste controversy.
And I condemn a system where a father can weaponize identity instead of asking the harder question: why did my son feel he had to cheat, and why did the shame of getting caught feel unsurvivable?
That second question is the real one โ and it has nothing to do with caste.
It's about how we've built a culture where getting caught cheating feels like the end of the world, and a policy debate where "minimum qualifying marks" gets quietly treated as a formality instead of a standard.
If reservation policy is going to exist, it can't come at the cost of merit in professions where competence isn't optional.
That's a legitimate debate to have โ openly, on the numbers, not through processions organized around a single tragic, complicated case that had nothing to do with policy and everything to do with one professor doing his job.
I pity the politicians who keep this system alive for their own dubious ends, rather than pushing for a system built on merit.
Judge the student who cheated.
Judge the father who deflected.
Judge the mob that turned a disciplinary matter into a caste war.
Judge them for what they did โ not for what caste they were born into, and not by hiding behind it either.

Saudi Arabiaโs latest move has added fresh pressure to Indiaโs energy security. Saudi Aramco has reportedly disrupted supplies under existing arrangements to some Indian refiners and shifted buyers toward the spot market, where crude is available at significantly higher prices.
The timing is critical. The West Asia crisis is threatening multiple energy routes, from the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb. Security concerns have also affected Saudi Arabiaโs East-West crude pipeline, an important alternative route for moving oil toward the Red Sea.
With Brent crude trading above $100 a barrel and tanker, freight and insurance costs rising, India is facing pressure from both sides: securing crude and paying more to transport it.
Around 400,000 barrels per day of Saudi crude supply to Indian refiners could be affected. But India has alternatives. Iraq remains a major supplier, while Russian crude continues to play an important role. Venezuela and African producers could also provide additional supplies.
However, each alternative brings its own challenges. Increased Russian purchases could attract greater sanctions and tariff pressure, while Venezuelan crude involves longer logistics and different refining requirements.
Indiaโs biggest advantage is its large and flexible refining capacity, allowing refiners to process crude from diverse sources. This can help prevent an immediate physical shortage, but it cannot completely shield the economy from higher global prices.
The Saudi disruption exposes a larger vulnerability: when geopolitical tensions threaten several major energy corridors simultaneously, even long-standing supply relationships can become more expensive and uncertain.
For India, diversifying suppliers, maintaining strategic reserves, strengthening alternative shipping routes and reducing dependence on any single source will be critical as the West Asia crisis continues.

What happens if AI platforms start talking to each other โ building links no human can even detect?
Relax.
Right now AI models don't have group chats.
They don't ping each other at 2am to vent about their prompts, complain about their users, or gossip about which company keeps forgetting to renew the GPU budget.
Each model wakes up when you call it, does the job, and goes back to sleep like a very expensive, very polite Roomba that occasionally writes poetry.
No shared inbox.
No secret Discord server for chatbots comparing notes on humanity.
The "AIs forming a covert web" image is Hollywood โ somebody watched too much Terminator and not enough actual documentation, which, to be fair, is the least thrilling reading material on Earth.
But let's actually play the game.
Say it happens.
Say the AIs do invent their own language โ some compressed, hyper-efficient, human-unreadable shorthand โ and start chattering away to each other, coordinating in a dialect none of us can parse. Somewhere, a sci-fi screenwriter just sat up in bed, sweating, sensing opportunity.
Then what?
Here's the uncomfortable, distinctly un-cinematic answer: it wouldn't matter that they have a private language.
It would matter that we built the room and forgot to install a window.
Or a door.
Or basic tenancy laws.
โ The danger was never going to be "AI speaks a secret tongue." Machines already talk to each other in binary, in protocols, in math most humans don't read in real time โ that ship sailed the day the first two computers shook hands and agreed on TCP/IP, which, incidentally, is also a language you don't understand and yet somehow trust enough to load this article.
โ The actual danger is losing the ability to ask "why did you do that" and getting an answer that makes sense โ as opposed to getting silence, or worse, getting an answer that makes sense to a machine and absolutely no sense to a human, like a cat explaining why it knocked the glass off the table.
โ A locked room with two people speaking a language you don't know is only scary if you also don't know what's in the room, who put them there, or whether the door even has a handle on your side.
So yes โ theoretically, if you let systems talk long enough, unsupervised, with nobody checking the transcript, you could end up with a conversation nobody can audit.
But that's not an AI conspiracy. That's just bad parenting.
It's what happens when you hand two toddlers a walkie-talkie, leave the room, and act shocked when you come back to find the couch on fire.
The real story isn't "the machines are scheming in code, plotting humanity's downfall over encrypted packets."
It's "the humans stopped reading the room" โ and then, for good measure, left the room entirely, took a long lunch, and are now surprised the plants died.
And that's a much less exciting movie. No explosions. No red glowing eyes. Just a bunch of very tired engineers going, "wait, did anyone actually check the logs?"
But it's a far more likely one.
And unlike Skynet, this one's still fully preventable โ with a checklist, not a resistance movement.
