For VIPs, errors in electoral rolls are corrected through personal calls, with the issue resolved in a single day.
What about ordinary citizens and vulnerable people who lack the access and influence to get their errors corrected? Are their democratic rights worth less?

The ECI wants citizens to run from pillar to post to correct errors in electoral rolls caused by its own failures.
What about ordinary citizens and vulnerable people who don’t know how to navigate this system? Will they lose their democratic rights because the ECI cannot get its own records right?

NSUI was protesting peacefully in Delhi against vote theft and demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. In this situation, the police lathi-charged NSUI workers in a brutal manner and kicked them with their boots. Two of our NSUI colleagues, Atiram and Rinki, who are women activists, were subjected to such brutality by the police that they were taken to the police station and beaten in a place where there were no CCTV cameras. So, we are sitting at the Jaipur Police Commissioner’s office to get a zero FIR registered in this matter and ensure an investigation. The police personnel responsible should be suspended and action should be taken against them. We are sitting here with all these demands, but 17–18 hours have passed, and senior officers are not ready to speak to us...

This detailed field-level investigation by a Scroll reporter found that most villagers had not worked in months, despite being shown as working on paper. Instead, local politicians are pocketing their wages – no doubt belonging to the ruling party. Evidence of such fake attendance and clone app scams in UP and other BJP-ruled states has also been revealed in the media.

Punjab is witnessing a worrying collapse of law and order. The killing of Shri Ashwani Devgan, an AAP Sarpanch in Tarn Taran, shows how fearless criminals have become.
Illegal weapons and drugs have penetrated deep into Punjab, with little accountability from the government. The failure of both the BJP and AAP governments to ensure border security and internal safety demands answers. Law and order is the government’s fundamental responsibility.
The families we’ve visited continue to face threats, with inadequate witness protection. There can be no excuses or political blame games when it comes to the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.
