I am no crisis PR expert, but if OpenAI or Anthropic is sitting on some more impressive and tangible AI achievement than solving an obscure academic math problem—say a cure to a specific disease or a Star Trek warp engine or a new strain of rice that will end global hunger—now would be a great time to unveil it to the public.
Most ordinary Americans now perceive an incredible downside to AI—up to and including human extinction—weighed against a vague and ill-defined upside. What’s in it for ordinary Americans? The AI industry needs to engage with that question immediately and specifically.

I vehemently condemn the settler violence in the West Bank, which has escalated this year with more than 3,200 Palestinians displaced, 76 killed, and countless more harassed and harmed.
For far too long, these violent settlers have acted with impunity. Netanyahu and his government must take immediate action to rein in this violence by stopping settlement expansion in the West Bank and holding perpetrators accountable.
The global community, including the U.S., cannot continue turning a blind eye to these atrocities. We must remain committed to a two-state solution that delivers lasting peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis.

- Broken the record for the longest House floor speech by protesting against a Republican bill for nearly nine hours;
- Despite not having a majority, used deployed discharge petitions several times to force votes on major legislation;
- Passed a clean, 3-year extension of the ACA tax credits after the Trump allowed them to expire, despite GOP opposition;
- Bypassed GOP committee blockades to restore collective bargaining rights for about 1M million federal workers after a Trump EO stripped those rights from them;
- Forced a vote to get the DOJ to release the Epstein files;
- Worked behind the scenes to protect Speaker Johnson from a far right ouster in exchange for crucial votes on Ukraine aid;
- With Sen. Booker, organized a 12-hour sit-in to block and draw public attention to a GOP funding plan.
Yes, his successes are limited, but he has already notched high-profile achievements by utilizing internal GOP divides and Democratic unity to preserve and restore the status quo despite the Trump administration's mission to destroy entitlement programs and workers' rights.
Ask a leftist what exactly Jefferies is supposed to realistically do that he hasn't already done, and they have no answer. It's all vibes.
