Everyone knows the PT companies thriving via exploitation Exploitation of cheap labor, volunteers/students, staff PTs, AND patients We love rallying against the big bad insurance companies, but hard to convince our own to investigate how they’ve become complicit @Human_Collab

It is important to know that this has nothing to do with science or the life of anyone. This is a small minority trying to force their religious belief on the majority.

I’m putting that tweet back up with the typos, the imperfections, and all of that because It’s a big deal in our field that not more than a couple DPT programs do this regularly or well, and that we don’t seem to have a plan to be more inclusive as a field.

I haven’t seen physical therapy academic departments in the United States interface with the field of disability studies. I think we’re telling on ourselves for not having more scholars scholars to help us understand its social construction and activism in our discipline.

... step 1.... ACKNOWLEDGE.. ...
PTJ Editor-in-Chief @ajette1 discusses under-representation of persons living with disability in the PT profession, noting: ➡️➡️Greater inclusion of persons living with disability will have an impact on both our professional identity and our understanding of disability.

Ok clearly I need to get y'all obsessing over pelvic floor PT like vaginal estrogen because it's that life changing.

Heath inequity is growing. US healthcare is rapidly approaching a level of capitalist dystopia that neither patients nor providers can deny. No one is happy except the health insurance & hospital executives who are scraping every dollar they possibly can off the top.

Attendance speaks volumes. It would take a large number of people refusing to register and show up 💰 or willing to show up but fail to attend the usual suspects’ lectures. (I know the problem is deeper than that… but it’s a visual and money talks). My field has this issue too.

DO NOT LET ANYONE DIM YOUR LIGHT IN THE NAME OF PROFESSIONALISM. Thank you for this! It's worth shouting.
I wasn’t going to post this but then i remembered that a professor once told me that my personality “makes it hard for people to take me serious”. To all my Pre-PTs out there: do not let anyone dim your light in the name of “professionalism”.

I also think we were wrong for indirectly (probably directly) supporting a state by having CSM there. I said it last year and I’ll continue saying it, we were wrong for hosting CSM there.

I’m also calling on @aptapelvic to take a stand against this. The academy’s single biggest revenue generator is CE courses- this year’s course lineup includes gender affirming care. How will this order be addressed in the course & what guidance will be provided to PTs in Texas?

@APTAtweets can we request a statement from @PTProudAPTA and take a stance against this? Our newly adopted core value of inclusion is in stark contrast to this.

I am also wondering if there will be something added to the @APTAtweets Advocacy App so that PTs can easily speak out on this regardless of state. I know that isn't generally how it's used, but this has huge ramifications for patient care.

Opinion: I fear that we will default to business as usual, leaving it for the health care system to treat what could have been prevented. And this system will do what it does best: provide care expensively, inequitably, and with underwhelming results. buff.ly/3H8VCao

We patients leading the movement in PT and beyond are exhausted. We need help.
Did I see a post about a CSM talk that discussed the ethics of treating patients regarding vaccination status? (might have missed the point of the thread) Sure would be nice to discuss ethics of treating patients regarding their insurance status at a major event

#PTintheCommunity Recap! #APTACSM #SanAntonio Too much to tweet, so here's an image. Our grassroots initiative crushed expectations and raised $13,900!! Thank you to all of our supporters! We look forward to 2023 in San Diego!
How about we ALSO stop looking at the current models as the only solutions?! We need corps and owners to start embracing that FEE FOR SERVICE serves no one..... ... and we need the profession (the people) to start challenging that set up
