Only 1 (one) person at a Bitcoin #meetup.
Same on a recent Bitcoin tour in Austria.
Surprised?
I’m not. I’ve been warning about this.
Actually, I predict 0 (zero), ultimately,
if we do not refocus on Bitcoin's true mission.
We did not just complain, we wrote the code.
Come hear my talk at @LuganoPlanB.
Nation states everywhere are turning increasingly authoritarian. The formerly free world is seems to turn into a dystopian and dysfunctional nightmare.
But tyranny has no power over #Bitcoin. It is designed against suppression. Peer-to-peer, permissionless, pseudonymous. Bitcoin eCash, it's new credit money protocol is encrypted and blinded to protect everyday users from power hungry politicians spying eye.
Bitcoin turns dictators into powerless clowns 🤡.
This is extremely concerning.
"The second part of the guidelines prohibits individuals from moving their cryptocurrencies out of regulated wallets and into non-custodial or self-custodial wallets. These include hardware wallets such as Ledger and Trezor, and software wallets such as Trust Wallet and MetaMask."
Those in free societies should think very carefully before imitating the actions of a repressive and anti-democratic state. And those of us in the Bitcoin industry, especially those of us with a foot in the policy door, need to do all we can to make sure that our governments don't make the same mistake.

UPDATE: The EU Council sent me a letter with its decision NOT to lift the sanctions on me. That means at least another year under sanctions.
The reasons they give should be a warning to everyone about where European authoritarianism is going.
Actually: The best thing is to get an EXISTING business to accept bitcoin.
Especially if it is a production business and not just a service business.
The former’s trade cycle helps to stabilise Bitcoin: earning, holding, spending.
It does not matter whether you call it (1) "fiat money" or (2) "fiat currency", since there no monetary base.
It's any of the two and a third: (3) inflationary crap.
Vienna, the birth city of Austrian Economics, now has a statue of Satoshi.
The inventor of #Bitcoin created the first base money which the politicians cannot corrupt, the base of a future sound monetary system in the ideal of Austrians.
Digital gold that is more solid than its physical twin.
No government politicians put it up on tax money. It was an effort by the bitcoin community in of Austria.

Both @Saifedean and @GeorgeSelgin are wrong.
- George because he thinks that banks should create money. They should not, as this would create inflation
- Saifedean because he thinks that a fixed supply commodity money is enough. It is not because a simple commodity is not money, it also needs a credit money layer.
The only economically legitimate producers of credit money are businesses which sell goods into the supply chain at the price of credit money (the discount rate).
Existing money can be lent out by banks at an interest rate.
It's dead simple but those two can fight forever because both are wrong.
On your argument:
- Money is different to any other good because it is a compound good. Commodity + credit. and it has not one but two price plus a purchasing power against all 'normal' goods.
Therefore "If people suddenly decide to hold more money" the purchasing power does not enter. It is desirable and economically true that the purchasing power remains roughly stable because the credit creation and the discount rate go up.
The rest all follows quite simple from those two layers and their respective rates.
“Can you spare some change?” is an entirely new dimension in #Bitcoin.
There was this newfangled drink.
Its impact on mankind was unclear. Most likely terrible. The weakest members of society were worried.
Surely, it must be regulated to avoid great harm.

New #Bitcoin Circular Economies are popping up all over the world.
They are a beacon of light in our dark times of dysfunctional fiat currencies and fiat politics.
One of these Bitcoin communities is already pioneering real economy transactions with Bitcoin’s newly launched credit layer.
The economic advantages seem to outweigh Bitcoin’s volatility problem, just as we hoped.
