Tell me we live in a dictatorship without telling me we live in a dictatorship... When our PM mocks Albertans democratic call for something better. "Don't be fooled by the idea that you can send a message with your vote?" Isn't that the whole point of democracy?! Love Canadians and Albertans? Yeah right. The MOST you could do (since it's literally your mandate as a public servant) is treat Albertans concerns with respect, but that assumes you actually respect us. Option 2. ~MayCee Holmes
“Don’t be fooled by the idea that you can send a message with your vote.” Those words from Prime Minister Mark Carney have stayed with me. I find it deeply disappointing to hear our country’s highest elected leader speak that way about a democratic referendum. For decades, Albertans have been asking for meaningful changes to our relationship with Ottawa. And today, we have an opportunity to make our voices heard on one of the most significant questions in our province’s history. I believe Albertans deserve to be heard, to be respected, and to have a genuine seat at the table when decisions about our future are being made. What Ottawa chooses to do with the outcome remains to be seen. And perhaps, someday, Albertans will decide it’s time to build a table of our own. Whatever your convictions, please take the time to understand the question and cast your ballot today. I’ll be voting yes to the nine and Option 2!! October 19th. A historic day for Alberta. #AlbertaReferendum #LetAlbertaDecide #Alberta #October19 #VoteOption2

Karen and I are leaving the house shortly, heading to the big rally in Edmonton. Bring your flag, wear your colours proudly. And please don't be shy. If you see me walking through the crowd, stop me and say hi. I hope to see thousands of you there. Alberta independence is the only path forward.

Yesterday @PardyBruce represented the "Leave" side in a debate. In his opening statement he highlighted the following.... "Notley, Nenshi, Carney, Kenney, Poilievres Harper, Smith..... that's the team. Along with the academics, legacy media, CBC, Globe & Mail, the unions, the Aboriginal chiefs, some CEOs of some big companies. This is the political establishment. They do not want you to vote for option two. That's not because option two is a threat to your interests. It's because it is a threat to theirs." Keep that in mind when you vote on Monday. We have an opportunity to make real change. Vote option "2"

I mean I'm voting option 2 to pursue the Question of Independence on the 19th but it's not a vote to leave Canada on this referendum 😂 ~Madison
On October 19, 23-year-old Madison Holmes will vote for Alberta to leave Canada. She thinks other Gen Zers will do the same. Read on here: macleans.ca/politics/im-23-a…

Thank you @keepgovlocal76 for honouring us as your first female guests of "Secession Speakeasy!"It was a pleasure to speak with fellow kindred spirits who promote personal responsibility as the foundation for bettering one's surroundings with an educated and moral vision that extends beyond oneself. And we love ourselves some Lord of the Rings quotes to expound that understanding! Can't wait to talk again! keepgovlocal.locals.com/post……

I was born in Calgary. I've spent my whole life in Toronto. Over the past two years, filming the documentary Broken Country, I've spent more time in Alberta than I have since I moved east. And I've come away seeing the separation debate very differently than I did going in. I met a lot of separatists. Almost none of them were who I expected. They weren't angry cranks with a flag. They were farmers, nurses, oil workers, small-business owners, grandparents. And the thing that surprised me most: most of them want nothing more than to remain in Canada. They just can't see another choice. Think about what they've lived through. The National Energy Program. Pipelines approved, then cancelled, then litigated into the ground. A tanker ban on one coast. Hundreds of billions sent east through equalization, returned as lectures about how the industry that pays for Canada's infrastructure and provincial shortfalls is something to be ashamed of. A federal government that has gone to court to argue Alberta's own resources aren't Alberta's business. And through all of it, a Parliament where their votes are a rounding error. You can disagree with every policy position Albertans hold and still see the pattern: a province that built one of the most productive economies on Earth, asked over and over to apologize for it. The people pushing for a referendum aren't traitors. They're patriots. They are standing up for what they believe in and fighting for a better future for their kids, a future their own federal government keeps telling them they don't deserve. That's not a tantrum. That's what citizens are supposed to do when nobody in power is listening. I'll say it plainly: I want nothing more than for Alberta to stay in Canada. This country is not whole without it. If Alberta leaves the country I love and am fighting for will cease to exist. But maybe a referendum vote is exactly the wake-up call the rest of us need. Not because Alberta should leave, but because the rest of Canada has to finally decide whether it wants to be a partner or a landlord.
