We were so happy to chat in studio with @echipiuk on some areas of concern leading up to the October 19th Alberta referendum. Eva's take: If our elected officials think it's just "too hard" to even conceptualize an independent Alberta, then maybe they aren't cut out for the job.

I honestly believe that no matter what happens on October 19th, Premier Smith’s days at UCP leader are done as of the AGM. It’s just been such an incredibly bad look and so naively, childishly silly of her to pretend she can negotiate in good faith with this Laurentian ghoul.
It cannot be understated: our broken immigration system has caused high unemployment, high home prices and high inflation. It must be fixed and provincial rights strengthened. Today, the Prime Minister got a copy of our referendum questions including the 9 on immigration and constitutional reforms. If Albertans give us a strong mandate on these questions, our government will get right to work on these needed reforms. And as I’ve said many times, please vote for Option 1, a strong Alberta within a united Canada, and yes to the rest! 🍁

We were happy to film this Alberta independence debate between Keith Wilson vs Bill Jones at The 2026 Reclaiming Alberta Conference. Constitutional flaws, equalization, treaties, transition costs & the firewall letter. youtu.be/QlDJYpqm3Eo @ikwilson @LetABDecide @we_unify

Dumpy little unemployed 58-year-old perpetual bachelor with multiple foreign flags in his bio calls group of family-oriented Christian Albertan patriots "weird." Remind us again why anyone gives a shit what this clown has to say about anything?
This weirdness is from the main separatist group. Voting for Option Two sends a message alright. A message that you want these folks negotiating the breakup of Canada, and running a Republic of Alberta.

A great breakdown from Mailyn on the tactics used to demonize Alberta independence and anyone threatening the status quo. This is because Mailyn spoke at the Capitalism & Morality event in Calgary. We were fortunate to have filmed her speech which anyone can reference here: youtu.be/mZdVByM0MY0
“The public deserves journalism that investigates first and concludes afterward. Not the other way around. Because freedom of the press is indispensable. And so is the responsibility to tell the truth.” Yours truly. mailynsalabarria.substack.co…

The story @DaniParadis had in her mind was that the independence movement and my event had to be tied to evil Donald Trump. No matter what I said in response to her questions, she was going to, by hook or by crook, tie us to the Orange Man. econamericas.substack.com/p/… @econamericas

Very well-said! 👏
How much more obvious does it have to be? We have political rivals like Rachel Notley and Jason Kenney laughing it up together, joining forces to disparage and dismiss citizens who have challenged the status quo. Carney, Poilievre, Smith and Nenshi are all campaigning for the same outcome. Apparently, they can all find common ground when people start demanding change. Where was that cooperation when citizens needed them to govern competently, deliver reliable public services and account for how public money was being spent? Citizens needed action. Instead, they get political theatre while public services deteriorate and many struggle to get by. For years, citizens were dismissed. Now we have door knocking, letters and visits. Suddenly, everyone cares about Alberta. This is not left versus right. It is the public demanding accountability from governments that have failed to deliver. Citizens across the political spectrum expect competent public services, responsible spending and elected officials who answer to the people they serve. An establishment that can unite to defend its position should be able to find that same resolve to fulfil its responsibilities. They had years to listen. Years to get the basics right. Years to earn back public trust. Now they want citizens to listen to them and accept, once again, that they know best. The people living with the consequences deserve to be heard. Those responsible for the decisions must be prepared to answer.

Oil sands worker debates @JonFromAlberta & Mike (The Critical Compass) on Alberta independence. He agrees Alberta gets a bad deal (equalization, pipelines, regulation) but still defends staying with the hope that Carney’s actions will fix Canada. Watch the full exchange: ⬇️

Absolutely idiotic to not vote for the nine. My friend @mrowley1987 convinced me as I was ambivalent. Then, at last night's @JasonLavigneAB town hall, Matt gave an impassioned reply to someone asking this question. Matt's view: Use every opportunity to send a message to politicians you can get. Politicians will interpret what they want from non-responses and almost always it will be: Voters don't care about this....I can safely ignore the issue. So people....all of you. Vote as you will, but vote on every question. Personally I will be voting Yes to the Nine and Option 2. @PardyBruce

🚨 OUTRAGEOUS: A Forever Canadian rally featuring Prime Minister Mark Carney is being held at Edmonton’s EXPO Centre, an active advance polling location. Political rallies have no place at voting locations. This raises serious concerns about election integrity.

Totally delusional if @ABDanielleSmith honestly wants us to believe that we can negotiate with Ottawa via her little referendum questions when @MarkJCarney rolls into Alberta and straight up tells them to vote "no to the 9." 😬 Vote Option 2 for a free and independent Alberta.
Yes to the 9! Vote option 2 on question 10! Carney wants to keep the status quo of this corrupt canadian confederation. He has no intention of working with Alberta.

Seriously how incredibly embarrassing for @ABDanielleSmith to get politicucked there so thoroughly by the guy she wants us all to pretend we can actually negotiate in good faith with. YIKES 🫣

@ABDanielleSmith make sure you see this. This guy does not want to work with us or listen to us.

Except, of course: - build a pipeline eastward - export our oil overseas westward - resist Ottawa's insane immigration commitments into our cities - elect our own senators - have a fair representation of MPs and senators compared to the east - keep $70B of the taxes we send to Ottawa for them to launder in Europe and then redistribute to Liberal-voting provinces But yeah other than that... nOtHinG!
United, there is nothing we can't do.   Forever Canada. 🇨🇦

When Notley and Kenney unite on an issue, it’s no longer about Left vs. Right. It’s the Establishment vs. the Anti-Establishment. If your political heroes and political enemies are on the exact same team, don't you think it might be time to reevaluate your position?
Former Alberta premiers Jason Kenney and Rachel Notley are joining forces to oppose Alberta separation, putting years of political rivalry aside ahead of the October 19 referendum. The former UCP and NDP leaders appeared together at an Edmonton Chamber of Commerce event on Tuesday, arguing that separation could create economic uncertainty and harm Alberta’s business climate. Kenney also said the UCP will need to decide whether it remains committed to its founding federalist principles, arguing that separatists should not be part of a party founded on keeping Canada united.

This is like the best thing that could happen for the Alberta independence movement lol. Elbows up! 🥴
BREAKING: Prime Minister Mark Carney will attend two “Forever Canadian” rallies in Alberta this week, days before voters head to the polls on October 19. The events are organized by a campaign launched by former Alberta deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk, which is urging Albertans to keep the province in Canada.
