Vaccinate nursery staff now and teachers working with key worker children. We are working alongside all essential services when the infection is at it’s highest. We are the backbone allowing NHS to operate. #COVID19Vaccination #NHS #nurseries #schools #TeachersLivesMatter

Can nurseries remain sustainable now and beyond COVID-19? I have written an article in @OpenAccessGov discussing this question bit.ly/2S22UpG #saveournurseries #clapforourcarers #LondonTogether #Childcare #Childminders #Nurseries #earlyyears #Covid_19

Had a chat with the BBC tonight. Give me a new take on the furlough debacle he asked. How about the demise of the sector I said. Enough news?? #earlyyears #coronavirus

Same here. 2 locally have closed now to keyworkers and laid off staff on the basis of this. This was understood to be a job retention scheme. No incentive to retain jobs.....guess what!

We had been preparing to upload data onto the HMRC #furlough portal today. Minister @vickyford promised furlough & funded places would be treated separately but this has been over-ridden by @hmtreasury. Does this mean redundancies are our only option? bit.ly/2Kj6mZ2

The rate of funding from the @educationgovuk doesnt equate to a daily childcare rate, let alone sustain staff wages, therefore still leaving directors of nurseries with no/limited options to pay their staff. Hard times made harder by the government! @BorisJohnson #COVID19

A remarkable move by the government sticking two fingers up to early years providers who are now increasingly likely the go to the wall. The fact the DfE talks about enforcement of incorrect claims while swinging the knife is extremely callous

Dear #Earlyyears please re-read the new guidance from the @educationgovuk as there are some ambiguity in the new guidance about eligibility. Don't upload your data to HMRC until you have checked new guidance @EYAlliance @EY_Matters @ceeda_uk

Disgraceful treatment of such an important sector. Settings have remained open on skeleton staff for children of Key Workers with others furloughed. To be advised at this point that they may not be able access the Govt Job Retention Scheme is unforgivable and very short sighted.

Just taken call from lady who has run a playgroup for 18 years, all funded children. Has already used savings to keep it going for key workers at local supermarket. Says this is the end for her now... @educationgovuk @NurseryWorld @NDNAtalk
We need to educate @educationgovuk how funding works, &what it covers. At most, it involves PART of a staffteam taking care of funded children,mainly3&4yr olds.Let’s unite our argument againstsuch unfair turnaround penalising staff, parents & children.

@EYAlliance @NurseryWorld How can a document supersede a previous document that has been acted on in good faith three weeks after the advice was followed ? Is this legal ?

The government promised to cover cost when asking schools and nurseries to stay open for key workers children allowing them to carry on doing their vital work. They have now back out of this promise meaning lots of nurseries closing. #Covid_19 #disgraceful #nhs
