Famine in Gaza is a man-made disaster. Aid sits just across the border but trucks are blocked by Israel while bombings continue to kill mostly civilians. This isn’t a natural crisis, it’s deliberate starvation. A ceasefire is urgent. Every hour costs lives. Aid must get in now.

“It’s a pretty despairing time in South Sudan,” says Harrington, who was in South Sudan from March 8 to 16. “The reductions in USAID funding have caused catastrophic upheaval there and within the global aid system.”
I wonder if this casket is carrying the bodies of the two children who died from malnutrition in the South Sudanese village I visited 12 days ago. You know, the one near where the USAID funded childhood malnutrition centre was shuttered with no notice.

It was a privilege to join with @HonAhmedHussen @CanadaDev for the announcement of $100 million for @Foodgrains for our humanitarian food assistance work. This grant will save lives, alleviate suffering & advance human dignity in some of the world’s most vulnerable corners.
Canada is renewing its commitment to the Canadian @Foodgrains Bank to strengthen global food security while empowering Canadian farmers.
Farmers will play a key role by donating proceeds from their crops, supporting communities worldwide impacted by conflict and extreme weather.
