October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it’s on all of us to look out for each other. As mayor, I promise to stand with survivors and make sure help is always within reach. Help is available 24/7 at 877-863-6338 (877-TO END DV).

Chicago is facing a nearly $900 million budget deficit, and taxpayers are the ones paying the price. We need responsible guardrails on borrowing, accountability at City Hall, and leadership focused on getting Chicago’s fiscal house in order. Chicago taxpayers have had enough. It’s time to demand better.

What a great day!
From the beginning, we wanted this campaign to be different and to provide real relief for our neighbors. Today, we did just that, opening two field offices with community hubs offering mutual aid on the South and West Sides. Thank you to everyone who came out, especially Alderman Scott and Commissioner Scott Jr. Two offices today, more to come.

Excited to launch our first 2 field offices and community hubs tomorrow.
Everyone deserves to have their basic needs met with dignity and respect. That’s why we’re establishing community hubs in dedicated field offices across Chicago, providing mutual aid and essential resources to offer immediate relief as we work together toward a more affordable city. Tomorrow we’re opening two locations! Join us ⬇️ South Side Opening 11:00 AM📍3501 S. King Dr. West Side Opening 1:00 PM📍1425 S. Kedzie Ave. linktr.ee/alexiforchi?utm_so…

Public service isn't about the promises you make. It's about the promises you keep. #Chicago deserves leadership grounded in integrity, accountability, and a commitment to doing what you said you would do. We #DemandBetter!

When the biggest AI developers all agree they should slow down, they should. Less blog posts and reports. The time for federal action is now.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. You can’t lead one Chicago without understanding all of Chicago. Ward by ward, we’re listening to neighbors and council members about what’s working, what isn’t, and what their communities need next. Follow @alexiforchi on Instagram and TikTok as we #WalkTheWard.

MAGA tracking women seekinghealthcare. ICE tracking down our neighbors. The law I spearheaded protects your data from being used against you.  When Trump and his cronies cross the line, we fight back.  #privacyrights #privacymatters #deflock

This is a real problem in America. We need to do better to support caregivers who take care of their loved ones, in addition to juggling their everyday lives.
Last October, Dolly Parton gave her fans a health update. In a video entitled "I ain't dead yet!," the singer explained: "Back when my husband Carl was sick, that was a long time, and then he passed, I didn't take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of." While that video update 10 months ago may have felt like a small detail in the life of one of America's most beloved musicians, it gives voice to a big problem immediately recognized by many of America's 63 million caregivers. When you care for someone else, it is all too easy to neglect to care for yourself. cnn.it/4zGq8F9

“Property taxes are already too high,” Giannoulias said. “They’re crushing businesses. They’re crushing families.”

“We need to have a robust middle class,” he said. “If people can’t pay their bills, and they can’t afford to live here because there’s not enough housing, it doesn’t (benefit) anyone"
New: Sec. of State, and mayoral contender, Alexi Giannoulias is proposing raising Chicago’s minimum wage to $22 by 2032. He’s been meeting with biz groups seeking buy-in and argues a gradual increase would not impact job growth.

Big news! We’re investing nearly $29 million to support libraries and literacy programs statewide. These grants will strengthen library services, expand access and help Illinoisans build the skills they need to thrive. Investing in libraries means investing in Illinois’ future.

@ILSecOfState came to support us in our victory! He shared some words of encouragement: “This is an important step toward ensuring the modern workforce is treated with fairness and respect and that innovation does not come at the expense of workers’ rights.”
