Driving close to a vehicle in front won't get you to your destination any quicker - in fact it may take you longer if you end up colliding with them.
When it's dry, leave at least a 2 second gap.
In the wet, double it to 4 seconds.

Stop check on an abnormal load M6 J11. Check on the movement order shows the drive was in breach of the the conditions. Movement order required an escort vehicle with the load which wasn’t present. Vehicle prohibited until escort arranged and attends. 5419

Great article from @PACTS on why it's long overdue for @transportgovuk to actually start leading on road safety again. Ministers always trot out "There is no room for complacency" in speeches, whilst refusing to lead because of the UK's relatively good road safety performance.
