I am thrilled to celebrate my 1 year anniversary in the vice principal role.
I truly love it. It is such a thrill to go to work every day.
My admin partner & I show up with passion, enthusiasm & a core belief that every child CAN and WILL.
It's officially winter break! ๐โ๏ธโ๏ธ

Today was my 1st day as the Acting Vice Principal of @NorthridgePS.

Vocab/writing tip from @margaretmckeow2:
Donโt ask kids to write a sentence with a new vocabulary word - they can fake it!
E.g., does โI feel cozyโ show understanding?
Instead try having them complete a sentence stem: โMy cat looks cozy whenโฆโ which requires more thinking!

Today I'm feeling a different sort of nervousness & anxiety. I am facilitating a workshop for secondary educators at PATHWAYS FOR SUCCESS, which reaches beyond my K-8 audience for sure.
Hopefully they don't steal my lunch money, or stuff me into a locker ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ @TVDSBLiteracy

The #TVDSBLiteracy team had the honour and privilege to host 3 professional learning sessions for today's @TVDSB System Leaders Day. We have such devoted, hard working administrators who are committed to supporting the reading achievement of every student across The Valley. ๐๐ป
On Feb. 7th @TVDSB will celebrate #WorldReadAloudDay. We'll join classrooms around the world to promote the power of reading & sharing beautiful stories. Every school has a copy UNFLAPPABLE in their library + a postcard of prompts! Tweet/Post and tag about your day @TVDSBLiteracy

November 8 is National Indigenous Veterans Day. It is a day to recognize the long and proud tradition of military service by Indigenous peoples across Canada. #TVDSB staff are encouraged to share the contributions and experiences of Indigenous Veterans this week.
My heart sings when I routinely watch my 9-year old look for opportunities to write at every turn - campfire and @PostMalone tunes create the conditions for journal writing. Who knew? ๐๐
The @TVDSBLiteracy team is grateful for the PD Day today so we can support teachers in grades 4-8 with their evidence-based instruction of Foundational Skills. Specifically we will focus on building morphological awareness and vocabulary knowledge.
