Their backline has struggled with pace and movement, which plays directly into David’s strengths as an off-ball runner who constantly finds space between defenders. - Canada’s two-striker setup also benefits him. With Cyle Larin occupying center-backs physically, David is often left in advantageous positions to turn and attack goal. MLB ⚾️ Lock #1 (June 24th) Jacob deGrom Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+104 FD) ❤️ IF YOU’RE TAILING - Jacob deGrom is still one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball even at this stage of his career, and this is a great spot for him to take advantage. He currently owns a 29.5% strikeout rate, showing that the elite swing-and-miss ability is still there. - The matchup against the Miami Marlins sets up extremely well. Miami can be a very strikeout-prone lineup on the right days, and they become even more vulnerable with Liam Hicks now on the IL. Six of the nine projected Marlins hitters have strikeout rates of 22% or higher against right-handed pitching, giving deGrom plenty of targets throughout the lineup. - Recent right-handed pitchers have also had a ton of success against this group, with Kumar Rocker recording 9 strikeouts, Landen Roupp getting 7, Zack Wheeler finishing with 9, and Paul Skenes putting up 10. deGrom is in that same tier of pitchers or better when it comes to pure strikeout ability. - Another major advantage is that none of the projected Marlins starters have faced deGrom before. That lack of familiarity should give him an edge early in the game, especially the first couple times through the order. - The matchup also lines up perfectly with deGrom's biggest weapon. Miami has one of the worst OPS marks in baseball against fastballs, and deGrom's fastball remains one of the best pitches in the sport. Very few pitchers can consistently generate strikeouts with their fastball alone, but deGrom is one of those rare arms. He accounted for 7 of England’s 22 total shots, showing just how much of the attack runs through him. - This matchup is just as good. Ghana is expected to sit in a low block and allow England to dominate possession, which should lead to sustained pressure and plenty of service into the box. Under Thomas Tuchel, Kane has been playing higher up the pitch as a pure finisher, benefiting from the creativity of England’s wide players. - Kane finished his Bayern Munich season with 61 goals and enters this match chasing England’s outright World Cup scoring record.
