He was a white guy from Belleville who had lived in Alberta and drove a pickup with Alberta plates to the synagogue. He was an anti-vaxxer and believed conspiracy theories about Jewish links to COVID-19. There is no indication of any "free palestine" activism from the shooter.
My latest: On the Belleville synagogue shooting in 🇨🇦. There is a direct link between the freedom given to the “Free Palestine” activists in 🇨🇦 to incite hatred and violence targeting Jews…and what happened in Belleville. And this has become the new normal in 🇨🇦. Shooting up of Jewish schools, synagogues…? Pretty regular now. Incitement of hatred targeting Jewish community centres? Businesses? Neighbourhoods? No big deal.
Law enforcement and PM @MarkJCarney encourage and embolden Jew hatred by doing nothing to stop it.
Belleville was an attack on Jews going to synagogue services. It was not an attack on 🇮🇱

I used to ignore these haters as irrelevant kooks looking for attention on social media.
But now it appears one of them tried to shoot up the Belleville Synagogue on Yom Kippur, and of course there have been other violent attacks by people radicalized by this kind of insanity.
It can neither be ignored nor dismissed.
