64 NOT OUT
Today, it's not just my birthday. Actually, it's an EXTRAORDINARY day for me. Taking into account what I have gone through in my life, particularly during the last 12 months, today also becomes a HISTORIC day in my life. Last year this time, there was absolutely NO guarantee that I will be alive today to write this message. At that time, my life was literally hanging by a thread. My chances of survival were dismally low & completely out of my control. It was only The Most High who was fully in charge of my destiny. Of course, medical doctors & nurses treat but it is The Most High who heals.
Fast forward to October 20, 2026 and I'm still alive to write this message. It can only be God! For how else can one rationally explain the impact of DAY ZERO in my life? On DAY ZERO, I underwent a delicate and complicated medical procedure that saved my life, a procedure that gave me a new lease of life. DAY ZERO was December 12, 2025.
As I celebrate my birthday today, I'm overwhelmed by emotions. I have seen the power of The Most High in my life. I'm absolutely nothing without the love, care & protection of The Most High. DAY ZERO rebirthed me but The Most High ordained that it wasn't yet time to call me home.
Once again, let me take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank my beloved wife, Tendai, for standing besides me in my darkest moments, for showing me unbelievable love and affection & even refusing to leave my hospital ward for a solid 3 weeks as I was going through a very complicated medical procedure. Allow me to also thank all my children & family members for never giving up on me. To all these kind & loving people in my life, I can only say THANK YOU from the very bottom of my heart.
I had a dream, a very beautiful dream last night. Folks, do you know that I'm a deeply spiritual man? Ndinovoneswa zvinhu zviri mberi na Mwari, ndivete zvangu.
Anyway, for now, let's focus on October 20!馃槈

Countdown to October 20.....
#Nyikaidoko
Kindly allow me to seize this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank @TMuguti for promptly engaging me concerning the damage caused to our short close by our wealthy neighbour's heavy duty trucks. PS Eng.Muguti has promised to sort out this mess by Monday, October 19, 2026. I know him as a man of his word, a man of action. I will keep you posted on the outcome. For now, the jury is still out.

My family has been living in a Harare neighbourhood since September 2001. Our family residence is located along a very short close, with only seven properties. All along, we have lived happily & peacefully until about two or so years ago when a very wealthy man purchased or is it, started leasing a property adjacent to our family residence. From that time onwards, our peace & tranquility has been violated. The wealthy man's heavy duty trucks have literally ripped apart our short close with reckless abandon. The beauty & ambience of our neighbourhood has been trashed. Our neighbourhood now resembles a mining site. All my efforts to engage the responsible authorities in order to restore peace & harmony in our neighbourhood haven't been successful.
I don't apologise for stating that our neighbourhood is upmarket but then, this wealthy man has brought us nothing but pain & suffering since his company occupied the adjacent property. I'm pretty sure that he has got the financial means to repair our short close that was damaged by his heavy duty trucks. Our short close is now a very bumpy & dusty untarred road. To say that this is extremely unfair to all the other people living in &/or using our neighbourhood for lawful & legitimate business purposes would be a gross understatement.

Slavery was aided & abetted by some of our own fellow black people. They would raid other villages & forcibly capture men, women & children ; thereafter selling them to slave traders for a pittance. Of course, slave traders would deliberately fuel these tribal/ethnic conflicts so that black people would continue fighting amongst themselves, killing each other & also capturing fellow blacks to be sold into slavery. To this very day, many centuries after the Trans-Atlantic slave trade & the slave trade into Arabised Asia, we, the black people of Africa, stiff suffer from a debilitating lack of togetherness, continental solidarity & a common vision to completely free ourselves from the chains & shackles of slavery in its various manifestations. As Africans, we should start to seriously introspect & stop blaming everyone else but ourselves for our current state of lack of socio-economic development & political stability.
On this day, exactly 9 years ago.
Time moves very fast, doesn't?馃槈

I humbly move the motion that at least one African country should be a nuclear power, possessing nuclear weapons. I stand to be corrected but I think Africa is the only continent without a nuclear power. And oh yes, the population of Africa should balloon to at least 5 billion people. Geographically, Africa is the largest continent on Earth.

On a Saturday, October 20, many years ago, I was born at Gutu Mission hospital in Gutu Central constituency, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe 馃嚳馃嚰. On my birthday this year, it is my intention to make a donation to Gutu Mission hospital. No donation will be deemed too small ranging from toiletries, medical gloves, bed sheets, blankets, children's toys, medical equipment, detergents, groceries etc, etc. Thousands, if not millions, of people were born at this hospital before & after I was born. Gutu Mission hospital is the main district hospital in the entire Gutu District & it was founded by the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ), formerly the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC). I'm kindly & humbly appealing for donations that will all be channeled for the benefit of the hospital.
Thank you very much in anticipation of your assistance & co-operation.

It's beyond debate that illicit drugs & alcohol abuse in Zimbabwe is a national crisis. Indeed, it's now a national security threat. Hordes of our young people, including even some older people in their 40s & above, are addicted to alcohol & other illicit drugs. Narcotics such as heroine & cocaine are being routinely trafficked within Zimbabwe's borders. The situation is very grave & the consequences of illicit drugs & alcohol abuse are, of course, dire. There is a real risk that an entire generation might actually be lost to the perilous & deadly effects of illicit drugs & alcohol. Even professionals like engineers, medical doctors, accountants & lawyers are not being spared. This is a monster that is eating away at the very fabric of our society. Families are being torn apart as the dangerous effects of drug abuse spread like a bushfire in our beloved country.
I'm acutely aware & appreciative of the efforts that the Government of Zimbabwe is currently taking in order to effectively curb & thwart the spread of illicit drugs & alcohol abuse. There is a Cabinet Committee chaired by a senior Cabinet Minister specifically tasked with the responsibility of identifying the suppliers of these deadly drugs & illicit alcohol & to ensure their arrest & prosecution. Whilst I acknowledge the sterling work that the said Cabinet Committee is doing, there is still a lot to be done to effectively deal with the scourge of illicit drugs & alcohol abuse. Some people in high society are being linked to the supply & distribution of narcotics. If the situation is left unchecked, within the next few years, Zimbabwe will be, to all intents & purposes, a drug den ; the Colombia of Africa. The law should be appropriately designed to ruthlessly deal with people who are actively involved in the illicit drugs & alcohol value chain. Our justice delivery system should be utilised as a lethal tool to show absolutely no mercy to anyone who supplies & distributes illicit drugs & alcohol.
Our rehabilitation centres should be adequately capacitated to handle all cases referred to them. That said, the impending national budget to be presented in November 2026 should set aside significant funding to deal with the malaise of illicit drugs & alcohol. As a nation, we have got a very serious fight on our hands. Let's all make sure that we don't lose this fight.

One very good thing that I particularly like about the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) is that we don't have 'prophets' going around conning people, creating alarm & despondency as well as threatening people with all sorts of false 'visions', 'prophecies' & all that BS. Conmen & conwomen are on the loose nowadays. Just take care!馃槈
God bless!馃檶馃徔
I have given up on the @cityofharare2. As far as I'm concerned, they're not fit for purpose. Put bluntly, they're extremely incompetent & not up to scratch. For how else can one reasonably explain that my neighbourhood last had access to municipal water in February 2008? They have given us one false promise after another over the years. I'm not sure whether, as presently constituted, the people who are running Harare can even competently administer Makaripe Village in the Mushayavanhu area of rural Gutu District. Their ineptitude is breathtaking & legendary. Little wonder that I correctly & accurately describe the collapsing Harare as the Sh*t of Harare.

The original idea was to have the official DAY ZERO book launch on October 20, 2026, my birthday. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a suitable hotel booking for that day & hence, we pushed the book launch to Saturday, October 31, 2026. DAY ZERO is not only about my private life story. It also covers my insider's views on the practice of law, politics & public governance. It is raw, unfettered & completely unplugged.
