Exceptionally heavy El Niño rains have triggered millions of dormant seeds beneath the soil, transforming vast stretches of one of the world’s driest regions into a spectacular carpet of flowers. 🌸🌸🌸 The Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth, has been dramatically transformed following heavy rainfall in northern Chile. Areas that are typically barren and parched are now covered in vibrant violet and white blossoms, a rare natural phenomenon known as the “flowering desert.”🏵️🏵️🏵️

For the first time in its history, more young adults are enrolled in institute than youth are enrolled in seminary. Together, the two programs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently surpassed 1.1 million enrollmentsworldwide — a milestone that will be celebrated this month in Moscow, Idaho, where Institute began 100 years ago. Young adults close to Moscow, Idaho, are invited to gather September 25–27, 2026, for the United States West Area YSA Conference and a formal celebration of the Institutes of Religion program. The centennial observance will return institute to its birthplace near the University of Idaho, where the first building was established in 1926 under the direction of President Heber J. Grant. “As we commemorate this centennial milestone, we celebrate not only a historic achievement but also a continuing mission: to help young adults come unto Jesus Christ, deepen their conversion to Him and His restored gospel, and prepare for eternal life with their Father in Heaven,” said Robert Salmond, director of the Moscow institute. Not every religion is led by a former SCOTUS clerk and state supreme court justice, but @LDSchurch is. All of us non-LDS Americans should be grateful for the forceful advocacy of @OaksDallinH in support of the rule of law, the Constitution, and American democracy. These secular concepts allow for the robust practice of faith. And so many people of faith strengthen those secular concepts.
President Dallin H. Oaks’ (@OaksDallinH) remarks at the National Cathedral offer a message every American would benefit from listening to. "As a practical basis for unity, all of us should accept the reality that we are fellow citizens who need each other. This requires all of us to obey some laws we dislike and to live peacefully with some persons whose values differ from our own. We should make every effort to understand the experiences and concerns of others, especially when they differ from our own. We should be especially careful not to seek total dominance for all of our own positions." The prophet concluded by praying "that we will all seek to be peacemakers." Watch his timely and profound message on the eve of Constitution Day in the United States:

What a privilege it was to be present at the National Cathedral for President @OaksDallinH’s address titled “Faith, Freedom & the Common Good.” He shared a profound message on the need to work together for a better way forward; a way to resolve differences without compromising core values.

I miss incandescent light bulbs, and know I’m not alone. Millions of Americans mourn their disappearance, which began when the federal government effectively banned them just a few years ago. LED light bulbs are amazingly efficient and have their place, but they’re expensive and not well suited for every customer in every situation. My bill, the LIT Act (“LIT” is short for “Liberating Incandescent Technology”), would give American consumers the freedom to choose the right light bulb for the job—even if that means incandescent lighting—based on their own, unique needs and preferences. We’re discussing the LIT Act today at a hearing before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. Passing this legislation would be a huge win for consumer choice, competition, affordability, and aesthetics.

Maybe the more deeply we look into the universe, the more we see God and ourselves. What if the universe is not as solid as it appears? At the deepest levels, everything we see, stars, planets, earth, trees, you and me, is connected to a reality of fields, waves, energy and light. And then we read this in the Doctrine and Covenants: “He… comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth.” “The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things…” And then: “Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space.” I don’t think scripture is trying to teach us a physics textbook. But I do find it remarkable that Joseph Smith received this type of revelation 200 years ago. The universe is far more mysterious, interconnected and alive than our eyes can perceive. And D&C 88 invites us to see something deeper: God is not distant from His creation. His light is in all things, through all things, and gives life to you and me.
