A new chapter. I’m rebranding this account from a valuation-focused page to my personal investment journal. I’m investing my own capital, researching businesses, and documenting the journey toward becoming a full-time independent investor. Same obsession. Different focus.

$GPI is making a $1.3B bet on Hennessy Auto. The dealership group generates $1.7B in revenue and $124M in EBITDA. That puts the purchase price at roughly 10.5x EBITDA. GPI has built a track record of acquiring businesses while aggressively buying back its own shares. But this deal comes with a trade-off. Strategic growth, but more debt. The real question is whether Hennessy can generate enough cash flow to justify the price while GPI manages the added leverage. I like the acquisition-driven strategy. But the returns will depend on more than just growing revenue. Purchase price, integration, cash flow, and the balance sheet all matter.

At ~10.5x EBITDA, does this look like a smart long-term acquisition or an expensive bet on continued growth?

Been digging into $TEQ Teqnion. Really interesting serial acquirer. They buy small, niche industrial businesses and let them run pretty independently, then use the cash flow to keep buying more. ~11% 3-year revenue CAGR. And the growth isn’t coming from constantly issuing shares. They’re using cash flow, debt, and seller earnouts to fund acquisitions. Not a cheap stock, but I don’t think it’s priced like a crazy roll-up either. Not buying it here, but if the price gets right, I’d be interested.

One of my favorite things to see as an investor: A company generating real cash, trading at a reasonable valuation, and buying back its own stock. $GPI has retired ~40% of its shares since 2017. At ~10x earnings, every dollar spent buying back stock is increasing the ownership percentage of the shareholders who stick around. You don't need explosive growth when your ownership is quietly compounding.

Right with you here @Ashton_1nvests $UNH and $OSCR look like boring plays compared to AI names It’s not exciting It’s consistent cash flow and demand however Everyone needs healthcare $UNH and $OSCR are both trading at very reasonable prices Not saying put all your money in healthcare but for stability/margin of safety, both are great value
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if healthcare ends up leading in 2026. While everyone has been focused on AI and mega-cap tech, healthcare has quietly been resetting. Valuations have compressed. Sentiment is weak. Expectations are low. That’s usually where leadership starts. $UNH and $OSCR in particular look interesting to me. $UNH is a cash-flow machine with scale, data, and diversification across insurance and care delivery. It’s not flashy, but it compounds. $OSCR is higher beta, but it’s building a tech-driven insurance model in a massive market. If execution continues and margins improve, the upside could surprise people. Both are positioned well long term. If capital rotates out of crowded trades and into overlooked sectors, healthcare could have a big year. Sometimes the best opportunities aren’t the loudest ones.

$OSCR growth speaks for itself EV currently: $1.7B 2026 Revenue Guidance: $18B Puts $OSCR at .1x EV/Sales based on guidance Cheap is an understatement $OSCR path to profitability could make this easily $30+ in the next year $OSCR is an asymmetric bet at $13
