Cooperatives & Fertiliser Security: Strengthening India’s Agricultural Resilience from Production to the Farmer Today, October 16, 2026, GreyMatters Communications, in partnership with FIJEEHA and IndiAgri and supported by KRIBHCO, organised a Knowledge & Policy Engagement Webinar on “Cooperatives & Fertiliser Security: Strengthening India’s Agricultural Resilience from Production to the Farmer.” The discussion focused on how cooperatives, the right farm technology and strong farmer institutions can together ensure timely fertiliser availability, balanced nutrient management and the efficient use of fertilisers. Dr. Tejinder Singh, General Manager (Marketing), KRIBHCO, highlighted the role of cooperatives in ensuring fertilisers reach farmers at the right time, supported by extension education and skilling. He also spoke about KRIBHCO’s farmer services, including soil testing and field demonstrations. Dr. Manish Kumar, Senior Scientist, ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, said farmers need the right agricultural equipment for balanced fertilisation and better nutrient use efficiency. He pointed to proper seed and fertiliser application, and to calibrating equipment so that over-application and wastage are avoided. Puneet Kashyap, CEO, Khushaal Honey & Dairy Producers Association (FPO), Punjab, noted that cooperatives have done a great deal to reach and educate farmers. Challenges remain, such as digitalisation of PACS and logistics during the peak fertiliser supply season. He added that farmers are gradually adopting soil testing, balanced fertiliser application and bio-inputs, and are seeing the benefits. Patience is key, however, as bio-inputs and sustainable practices take time to show results. The session was moderated by Ashish Paliwal, Advisor, IndiAgri. The webinar highlighted how timely availability, farmer awareness, appropriate technology and empowered farmer institutions can strengthen India’s fertiliser security and build a more resilient agricultural ecosystem, from production to the farmer. #FertiliserSecurity #Cooperatives #AtmanirbharBharat #KRIBHCO @AgriGoI @MinOfCooperatn @KRIBHCO_PR @BharatUrvarak @ICAR_CIAE @icarindia @NFL_Kisan @Fijeeha @indiagri @Sustainablty @NGOActionn – at Noida, India

🔴🟢🔵PR is never quite the same day twice. One day, you could be in a cotton field, the next at a motor racing track, and the day after, at a Chief Minister’s press meet. That’s the fun of it! We chanced upon this old video of our Director, Dr Navneet Anand, visiting a cotton field in Chanaka village, Yavatmal, Maharashtra, as part of our work with Syngenta. It brought back a simple reminder of what makes PR exciting: new places, diverse sectors, people on the ground and fresh perspectives every day. At GreyMatters, variety is the essence of what we do, and every assignment is an opportunity to learn something new. A little glimpse from the archives. Do watch! 👇 #GreyMatters #PublicRelations #PR #Agriculture @navneetanand @SyngentaIND

A field study conducted by the South Asia Biotechnology Centre, supported by the Federation of Seed Industry of India & the National Seed Association of India, estimates that unauthorised HTBt cotton was cultivated across 65–72 lakh acres during the 2025–26 kharif season. The findings also signaled an estimated Rs 1,500 crore informal seed market. The scale of unauthorised cultivation points to farmers’ demand for technology & innovation. A science-based regulatory pathway for HTBt cotton could enable genuine seed companies to provide farmers with verified seeds, curb counterfeiting and bring economic activity currently in the informal market into the formal economy. Such media stories helps bring evidence & ground realities into public discourse, encouraging informed debate on agricultural technology & science-based policymaking. Fertiliser security is not only about availability. It is also about ensuring that the right fertiliser reaches farmers at the right time and is used correctly. At a media workshop in Lucknow on October 8, Fijeeha and GreyMatters Communications, in collaboration with KRIBHCO and supported by NGO Action, discussed ‘Fertiliser Management & India’s Roadmap to Agricultural Self-reliance: Role of KRIBHCO’, focusing on the cooperative’s role in strengthening the fertiliser supply chain and promoting responsible fertiliser use in Uttar Pradesh. Rishipal Singh Rathore, UP State Marketing Manager, KRIBHCO, shared that the cooperative supplies 10-12 lakh MT of urea and around 3 lakh MT of DAP annually in UP through a network of 8,000 PACS, 10,000 retail centres and 42 Krishak Bharati Sewa Kendras. Beyond supply, KRIBHCO is also working on fertiliser stewardship by educating and training farmers on quality, balanced and appropriate use of fertilisers. The workshop was also addressed by Prof Manish Verma, Department of Sociology, Dr BR Ambedkar University, Lucknow, and Dr Navneet Anand, Director, GreyMatters Communications and President, Fijeeha. Journalists from mainstream and regional media, along with YouTube channels, participated in the discussion. @MinOfCooperatn @BharatUrvarak @KRIBHCO_PR @yadavsunder @Fijeeha @pragyaranjan1 @PriyaOm_S @navneetanand
