Congratulations to @GrekaLab artists @peach_arines, @SilvanaBazua, Brianna, and @JCoraorFried on the beautiful cover art for this issue of @Cell_Metabolism cell.com/issue/S1550-4131(22…
Further, we extended our platform to study the effects of these fatty acids in other cells affected by metabolic disease and lipid overload. An exciting collaboration with @MartineTherrie4 and @stevens1lab revealed microglia are sensitive to PUFA-induced death. (10/15)
To push FALCON further we integrated lipotoxic transcriptomic profiles with gene lists prioritized from T2D GWAS. This integration of environmental and genetic perturbations identified 25 genes including SLC30A8 and PAM and clinically validated targets such as GLP1R. (8/15)
As a proof of concept in pancreatic beta cells, a cell type critical to obesity-related diabetes, we used transcriptomics to group FFAs based on gene expression profiles. We found that the FFAs could be grouped into 5 clusters independently of degree of saturation. (5/15)
FALCON (Fatty Acid Library for Comprehensive ONtologies) is a platform to systematically study the cellular effects of a large and diverse number of free fatty acids (FFAs) found in human (and mouse) serum and linked to the pathogenesis of obesity-associated diseases. (2/15)
🎉 Greka lab paper alert! Our team is excited to share a new story published in @iScience_CP led by @JamieLMars describing the use of Slide-seqV2 to identify disease-specific cell neighborhoods in human and mouse kidneys. cell.com/iscience/fulltext/S…
