10 years ago I met with the Erkelens family at their Groningen facility and was given a tour of their intelligent GMP medical cannabis facility. They were prescribing oil through Traansval pharmacy in The Hague to the first patient in Ireland under Ministerial license. During this time there were inflated valuations projected onto the industry and they had rejected a takeover offer from Tilray. Perhaps a regretful decision looking back now. They asked me to start a joint venture to establish Bedrocan Ireland where they would hold 51% share that I turned down, and instead I moved to Portugal and founded my own licensed production where I own 100% debt-free independent from bank and VC money, bootstrapped by bitcoin. The old cannabis industry players will suffer downturns and there are valuable lessons for new kids on-the-block to learn from. My suspicions peaked when I saw Bedrocan participate in the WEF in Davos rubbing shoulders with Epstein-class elites. Thank you for pioneering the industry and supporting countless patients throughout the years. RIP Bedrocan. My DMs are open for the 70 employees that might want to relocate to hotter climates ;) azorescannabis.club

If Ireland wants to resolve drug intimidation they must adopt strict regulation & safe access. Anything less will fail to achieve the intended consequences to reduce harm/ overdoses, protect labour rights, safety, eliminate drug cartels that influence policy & launder money.

i wonder how many more people have to die before our government finally listen to the 6 reports they’ve received and regulates the illicit drugs market to take it away from criminal control?

Partly yes: Parliament rejects the Irish proposal for cutting defence/security funds (e.g. military mobility by 14%, competitiveness/defence by ~13%) versus the Commission's plan, plus underfunding agriculture/cohesion and overall size. They want higher totals matching commitments. Extra defence money would mainly flow to European firms like Thales, Leonardo, Airbus, Rheinmetall and Saab via instruments succeeding the European Defence Fund for R&D and production.

Just look at Canada …. Since legalising this plant for adult use in 2018, it’s become one of the country’s biggest cash crops. Farm receipts went from $94.8 million in 2016 to over $3 billion in 2025. It’s now competing with soybeans and corn, bringing in more than durum wheat, barley, lentils and tobacco. Quite a change for a plant that once accounted for less than 1% of total farm receipts. stratcann.com/news/cannabis-…

Supermarkets make billions by importing frozen GMO food from Argentina that cuts out the local farmer. You know who wasn't affected by the cyber attack? Farmers markets. Your local dairy. The butchers in your town. No sympathy for cost cutting by behemoth food conglomerates
Cyberattack on French supermarkers. Someone remotely took over refrigeration controllers and made them to defrost. Target temperature set to 50°C. Staff opening freezers in the morning were hit by a wave of hot air. Millions of euros lost. France spent years debating food sovereignty to depend on a firmware update? bfmtv.com/economie/consommat…

I want to talk about Patrick Collison. Let’s start with a simple acknowledgment: he is one of the most impressive philanthropists right now: - When Covid hit, he and Tyler Cowen launched Fast Grants and got money to scientists within days. - He helped launch the Arc Institute, so biologists could do science instead of drowning in paperwork for grants. - And Stripe, under Collison’s leadership, built Frontier: a super ambitious pledge to guarantee a market for carbon removal tech. This is all really awesome! Few billionaires have thought harder about how to do a lot of good with their money. But now we have to talk about what the hell Patrick Collison is doing in California. He has given $15 million to ‘Building a Better California’, one of the most cynical political campaigns I’ve seen in a long time. It's the main vehicle fighting Prop 40: a one-time 5% tax on the state's ~200 billionaires (to make up for federal cuts to healthcare for low-income Californians). And look at how this group does it: - It’s funding an extremely aggressive "No" campaign (opponents are outspending supporters roughly six to one). - It also put two decoy measures on the same ballot. Prop 41 *seems* to be about good governance. Prop 42 is sold as ‘protecting your retirement savings’. But both contain a clause: if either gets more votes than the billionaire tax, the tax is cancelled. - Meanwhile, the retirement story is total nonsense. Prop 40 already exempts pensions. CalMatters calls the deluge of ads misleading and the SF Chronicle calls Prop 41 a ‘cynical poison pill’. - The sad reality is that all this misinformation is working though. Polls show small majorities backing the billionaire tax and the measures designed to kill it. You can vote yes on all three and cancel out your own vote. Most people don’t realize this. Through all of it, Collison HASN'T SAID A WORD about why he's funding this slimy campaign. This is a public intellectual who writes thoughtfully about progress. If he believes Prop 40 is bad policy, he should do the honorable thing and make the case! And tell us what he'd rather do about extreme concentrations of wealth and power, or explain why he thinks they aren't a problem for our democracy and civilization. Instead we get silence + $15 million for a campaign built on misinformation and shady political tactics. @patrickc, what are you doing?
