To outsiders in America and beyond, big-state libertarianism can be puzzling. To Swedes there is no contradiction: they just want to be left alone, and to do it together economist.com/europe/2026/08…

Sweden has no constitutional court. What it has is a duty in regeringsformen for courts not to apply laws that conflict with higher norms.
When the legislative process erodes, that duty becomes more visible and more demanding. Judges will need to be prepared to find, and to state, that a given application of a law cannot be reconciled with the constitution.
The citizenship reform belongs in this picture.

Interesting flag and discussion by @GrahamButler1 - re enforcement under Brussels Ia of judgments in default.
The Supreme Court of Denmark 🇩🇰⚖️ has declared that a 'judgment by default' issued by a Swedish district court (Helsingborgs tingsrätt) 🇸🇪⚖️ is unenforceable in Denmark under the Brussels I bis Regulation ⛔

In this blog post I discuss last week's Opinion of AG Collins in Commission v Malta (citizenship by investment). AG Collins proposes that the case against Malta should be dismissed. I argue that his arguments and conclusion are convincing and should be followed by the CJEU
