Lottery results in five days.
Hope I get in.
@zachpogrob are you going?
Note to self:
Hank went from 3:30 to 2:34.
Massive, epic improvements are possible.
I think a lot of runners seriously underestimate how much room they have to improve.
I ran 3:30:28 at Boston in 2022.
On Sunday, I ran 2:34:49 at Chicago.
Almost an HOUR faster.
And I don’t think I’m particularly close to my ceiling yet.
The biggest factor for me has been consistency. Not one incredible training block, but years of gradually building fitness and seeing how far I can take this.
If there’s one thing I hope people take away from following my running, it’s this.
PLEASE don’t put a ceiling on what you think you’re capable of.
Especially when you’re just getting started.
They are a joke.
@Strava has tons of data from runners, but they don’t have the context.
Someone is running a major marathon and enjoying it, has a cold, is recovering from an injury - it has no clue.
So the ai generates… useless predictions.

What’s the verdict on @tracksmith? Are their half tights good?

Went out to ruck 12 miles with a 30 lb pack.
My route took me past the DC Half finish line, where I stopped to meet friends. Seeing everyone finishing the race convinced me to add 1.1 mi.
So 12 miles became 13.1.
12 miles: 2:48:00
13.1 miles: 3:00:07
Missed sub-3 by 7 secs 😂

🥾 Next up: two @GORUCK Basics back-to-back.
That should mean roughly 10 hours of rucking with other people - a very different challenge from knocking out 13.1 on my own.
I’ll share how that goes.
The big reveal is almost here. 👏

My goal is end of year! Still training building up - going well
Pull-ups is the bottleneck, but an up from 5 to 50 now, need to get to 100
I love Shaan.
Good inspiration.
1. Was 218 last fall. Now 190. Down 28 lbs. ✅
2. Love bball, but didn’t happen. Did break sub-4 hour marathon in Sydney: 3:52:09.
3. A Murph w 20 lbs is insane. I did a modified one and it took 1:34 with bad form at the end.
My grand fitness challenge for 2026:
1. Finish the year at 199 lbs (lose 20lbs)
2. Dunk a basketball for the first time
3. Do the "Murph" in under an hour
will be posting updates for your amusement
shoutout to my friends @superpower for pushing me to go for it
There was a time when Nike was on the feet of 50%+ of runners. At the DC Half, they’re still #1, but at just 33.1%. Take HOKA and On out, and Nike would be at 43.3%.
Still on top, but the market share is shrinking. Small brands are taking percentage points and slowly growing.
I registered for the Alexandria Half. Will be my third running (including the prev PNC Parkway 10-miler version).
Logistics are easy.
Lowest price possible. Prices go up Sept 26.

You can’t win a race at the start, but you can lose it. Holding back at the start is not intuitive and is hard to do.
Everyone learns this lesson the hard way.
Jingle Bell 15K (2024) and AGAIN at the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler (2025) for me. 😅
It's done.
1,008 miles ran this yea as of yesterday.
Fastest I've hit the milestone.
Wasn't a goal.
Still played basketball, rucked, and biked when I felt like it. (Did set a goal of biking 500 miles this year.)
I don't have any plans to increase my annual 1,000-mile goal.
