I’ve been working with ROS1+ cancer patients for a decade and never been in a room with more than 5 fellow ROS1ders … until today. The power of patient advocates is amazing. #TheROS1dersPRIMESummit

I love this woman and am so grateful for all the work she has done on behalf of thousands of LC patients around the globe. Also, always grateful for her friendship. What a mensch. <3
Congratulations to Jill Feldman @jillfeldman4 for her well-deserved #ASCO Advocate Award! She is a tireless advocate for people with a #lung cancer diagnosis and we are proud to know her! 👏

🧵- Israel As some of the most gruesome news yet from Israel is coming out, people have asked me “how can we support our American Jewish friends during this time?” I by no means speak for all Jews, but here are some suggestions:

100% this! Also, not a fan of the CYA-style rad reports that ID any spot as “likely”progression. I’ve been & seen others go thru several false alarm fire drills bc of that. Grateful for close monitoring, but ptsd triggered by the language in the report is real. Phrasing matters.
If you’re co-managing a patient thought to be in remission & they develop a new symptom please don’t say “maybe your cancer’s back, ask your oncologist” because no amount of tests or reassurances can unring that bell Living in fear of recurrence can be a Pyrrhic victory 😔

It took @PGE4Me a full day of power outage to even send out a message that it will take them more than 72 hours to get my neighborhood power restored. My sympathies to the hardworking staff on the streets fixing a zillion things after a storm, but a heartfelt 🖕🏽to the CEO.

Here are more reasons from @jillfeldman4 to STOP emphasizing our lung cancer patient's smoking history in the opening sentence of an HPI. Does it really need to be highlighted? Stay calm, stick the smoking history in social history, and move on. #lcsm #radonc

I have lost count of the number of women who are or were recently pregnant and dx'd with St. IV lung cancer. It's more common than people realize and it's tragic. Seems like more research on hormone involvement in LC is needed.
No training can prepare you for discussing hospice with your patient when she is holding her 6 month baby. Lung cancer is killing our women.

The stress & worry waiting for image results is visceral. Not sleeping & can't think of anything else for days because every time we go for a scan we feel like we're walking the green mile. May not be rationale, but it's real #PATIENTCENTERED care includes emotional well being
🙏🙏🙏 So important for patients with #cancer as well It's highly anxiety inducing to wait for imaging results And perhaps even worse, to read the results in EHR & then have to wait for your doc appointment. Though it's a bit of a different topic @LeciaSequist @jillfeldman4

Please read this short thread. Tucker Carlson is a far bigger problem than Kanye West.
This Post is from an account that no longer exists. Learn more
Kanye threatened the Jews yesterday on twitter and it’s not even trending. Why do mostly only Jews speak up against Jewish hate? The silence is so loud

BREAST, COLON, PROSTATE, OVARIAN, AND SKIN CANCERS GET ALL THE ATTENTION AND FUNDING BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT LUNG CANCER KILLS MORE PEOPLE THAN ALL OF THOSE COMBINED AND WE HAVE A FREE, PAINLESS SCREENING TEST FOR IT BUT ONLY ABOUT 5% OF ELIGIBLE AMERICANS GET SCREENED #LCSM

When I die, if anyone says I lost my battle with cancer I will come back and haunt them forever
‘They lost their battle with cancer.’ How do you feel about war metaphors and cancer? They make @Liz_ORiordan angry. ‘As a doctor, it didn’t bother me. But the minute I became a cancer patient I suddenly hated the war terminology.’

#WCLC22 Disparities are not all about race & gender: We need better tools for screening #young pts at risk for #lungcancer - many of whom are never or light smokers and present w advanced disease. Young pts are not getting screened and studied as well. 👇🏽#lcsm @EGFRResisters
Early diagnosis of #lungcancer among younger vs. older adults showed a widening disparity in the era of lung dancer screening according to a report presented by @ChiFuJeffYang at @WCLC22 in a study from Massachusetts General Hospital. @alexandra_p_24 @PriyankaSinth16

As someone who was diagnosed at age 47 with stage IV lung cancer, this is a very important question. MANY are being diagnosed with #lungcancer at younger ages. We need a non-invasive, inexpensive annual way to screen! #lcsm #WCLC22 @EGFRResisters
Very important talk by @ChiFuJeffYang at #WCLC22 press conference. Progress shifting stage in older patient cohorts w/ education, screening and other tools. But we are FAILING to diagnose young patients earlier. Too many present w/ stage IV disease. How can we change this?

#Lungcancer patients will tell you that no amount of therapy can help as much as connecting with other #livingwithlungcancer patients that understand. Find out more about finding “#biomarker buddies” from @jillfeldmann4 and @ivybelkins. #WLCD22 bit.ly/3uBtHgq

#LungCancer patient advocates share purpose, laughter, tears. On #WorldLungCancerDay I celebrate efforts to improve outcomes & QoL for people living with LC. Most of us have/had LC. Many have died. Still, we persist because ... we see how we make a difference. #LCSM #WLCD
