Rejecting HIV funding is one of most callous, not to mention fiscally irresponsible, decisions @GovBillLee has made in 6 yrs (that’s a high bar). It’s having a harmful impact on Tennesseans, as expected.
Gov. Bill Lee made waves in 2023, when he rejected millions of dollars in federal HIV prevention programming. Since then, Tennessee has been replacing that money. Public health experts tell WPLN's @CathJSweeney that new process is already causing damage. wpln.org/post/tennessee-repl…

Yesterday about 10 fourth grade Girl Scouts met me outside the polls to talk about running for office and to ask questions to earn their Citizenship Badges.
Every kid in the group had a story of directly experiencing the effects gun violence. They had a theater camp teacher that had them read their lines while lying on the ground because there was an active shooter across the street. They weren’t fooled and knew exactly what was going on.
These kids should be worried about BEING KIDS. Not whether or not they’ll be hurt at school, at camp, or playing outside. It’s no wonder why so many of them wanted answers to how I’ll fix this problem as their congressional representative.
