There is no such thing as a human being with a genuine need for demographic-exclusive spaces. If the mere presence of a person of the wrong demographic makes you uncomfortable in a context where you'd be fine otherwise, that makes YOU a bad person.

Listening to old episodes of @wisemanpod . In the magic one (ep 9), Richard advises not putting your fingers into a finger guillotine magic prop. Taking this to mean I can stop feeling silly about the time I was picked as a volunteer but chickened out of exactly that.
There is no profession, least of all medicine, in which those who behave this way don't deserve to be despised and scorned by others until they come to hate themselves.

It's becoming apparent that a certain Youtuber is suffering psychologically, including paranoid delusions, & I'm on the verge of blocking their channel so I'm not tempted to watch the train wreck any further. It's sad, and I hope they get through it, but there's nothing I can do.

Autism questionnaires are unreliable, but I think I've come up with a foolproof diagnostic method for adults: give them any stupid old personality test. If they average 5+ minutes on each simple question, agonizing over its possible permutations and meanings, they're autistic
I tend to find Doctorow's writing/presentation style frustrating. It raises questions like how the hell did we get here but doesn't facilitate true understanding very well. Of course, he shouldn't be doing it alone, but where are all the other public educators?
For example, they can block you from getting your car independently repaired with third-party parts.
But they can also screw you in sneaky ways. Once a device has DRM on it, #Section1201 of the #DMCA makes it a felony to bypass that DRM, even for legitimate purposes.
