With Yandex data centers under constant attack, I’m starting to worry that the White House will issue yet another demand to stop the strikes. After all, it would be a tragedy if Russia’s valuable bot traffic dried up just before the midterms.

NEW: 🇷🇺 Russia has detained a Western cargo ship for the first time since threatening to detain vessels in response to sanctions against its shadow fleet.
The Cyprus-flagged Västerbotten was stopped by Russian border guards while sailing through Russian territorial waters in the Gulf of Finland toward Estonia.
🇪🇪 Estonia confirmed the detention. The ship resumed sailing at around 5 PM and is now heading toward the port of Sillamäe.

Breaking: UK counter terror police update on RAF Fairford
“We can confirm that no improvised explosive devices were found. However, a quantity of petrol was recovered.
“Yesterday we released the five men on police bail. They remain under investigation and must adhere to strict conditions while we continue our work. The safety of the public is at the forefront of our investigative decision making, and this was certainly the case yesterday.
I understand why this development will have come as a surprise to many, but I'd like to reiterate that it was investigative decision, and one which is grounded in experience and careful consideration of policing powers.”

Once again, Iran may emerge as the biggest strategic beneficiary of this confrontation. Any serious disruption to Saudi energy infrastructure will push oil prices higher at precisely the moment when Iran’s own ability to move oil through the Strait of Hormuz is constrained.
But the more important lesson is about the Houthis. The Houthis operate under remarkably few constraints. Combined with the strategic capabilities Iran has provided them over the years, this has transformed them from a localized Yemeni threat into a first-order regional strategic challenge.
And they understand the asymmetry with Saudi Arabia very well. The Houthis have relatively little to lose and potentially a great deal to gain from escalation. Saudi Arabia is in exactly the opposite position: it has enormous economic infrastructure to protect, ambitious development plans to safeguard, and relatively little to gain from another prolonged war in Yemen. That asymmetry makes rebuilding deterrence extraordinarily difficult.
The more Saudi Arabia strikes, the Houthis can simply climb another rung on the escalation ladder. So far, Riyadh has struggled to impose costs severe enough to change Houthi calculations. In fact, we may have to acknowledge that the deterrence equation Saudi Arabia is trying to restore no longer exists.
The presence of American advisers in Saudi Arabia is important, but it is difficult to see how advisers alone fundamentally change this strategic equation. Unless Riyadh receives significantly greater external assistance, potentially including meaningful participation by additional partners , Saudi Arabia may eventually face an extremely uncomfortable choice: continue an escalatory cycle in which it has far more to lose than its adversary, or accept an agreement largely dictated by the Houthis.
The current status quo looks increasingly unsustainable. After the Houthis’ latest operational gains, and with continued attacks against critical Saudi infrastructure, time may not be on Riyadh’s side.
This is ultimately the strategic problem: Saudi Arabia needs the Houthis to fear escalation. The Houthis increasingly appear to believe that escalation works in their favor.

The idea that Houthis are somehow remote-controlled by Iran to the extent that their ambitions can be switched off through a deal with Tehran is a serious analytical error that always misread how much the wars around Yemen and Saudi Arabia's Southern border have an Eigendynamik

No pride, no honor, no shame... While European leaders are preaching for peace, Russia has been expanding its war operations and turning its entire economy and society into an engine for perpetual war. Emboldened by European impotence, Putin has now openly brought North Korea to the frontline. NK ballistic missiles are already hitting Ukrainian cities and Metz + Co are too afraid to even discuss NATO options to shoot down these deadly objects in the Ukrainian skies!
- Friedrich Merz:
"Our message to Russia is: It is time to come to the negotiating table, it is time to agree on a ceasefire. It is time to put an end to the needless bloodshed in Ukraine.
It is becoming increasingly clear, and more and more Russian citizens are realizing that Moscow will not prevail in this war.
Russia will not achieve its war aims.”

It is taking too long; that war must be brought to an end as soon as possible.!

Remembering Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja MBE. Husband. Father. Brother. World-renowned groundbreaking mountaineer. Entrepreneur. Leader. Gurkha. Special Forces Veteran.
These titles describe who Nimsdai is, but they don't capture what he represents.
Nimsdai built a legacy by challenging limits and breaking boundaries. He redefined what was possible and showed the world what can be achieved when belief, courage, and relentless determination come together.
Nimsdai dedicated his life to expanding the boundaries of human potential while using his achievements to create opportunities for others. He used his voice to champion others, especially Nepal's climbing community. Through the work of the Nimsdai Foundation, he transformed the lives of mountain communities, championed education and opportunity, and inspired people across the world to pursue lives of purpose, resilience and service. His vision, leadership and determination built Elite Exped, Nimsdai Foundation, Skydive Nimsdai and Nimsdai Store into what they are today. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he changed and the people he inspired to climb their own mountains.
Nimsdai was climbing Broad Peak as part of his own expedition to become the first person in history to climb all 14 eight-thousanders twice without supplementary oxygen. Nimsdai was accompanied by his trusted climbing partners and guides, Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta) and Nima Sherpa. With only Cho Oyu remaining to complete all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks for a third time as part of his Hat-Trick Project in support of the Nimsdai Foundation.
Yet, true to the philosophy that defined his life, this climb was never simply about records. It was about pushing the limits of what was possible and inspiring others to believe that their own mountains could also be climbed.
On 28 July, Nimsdai dedicated the climb with these words:
"To everyone who carried me here. Supporters. Critics. All of you. Without both sides, there is no fire. So thank you genuinely. My purpose has never been about me. It's about what I represent. It's about showing YOU that your mountains - whatever they are - are climbable."
Those pioneering final words perfectly capture who Nimsdai is. His greatest achievement has never simply been the summits he's stood on, but the belief he's instilled in millions of people around the world: that impossible is often just a starting point.
So Nimsdai, we salute you for reminding us all that every mountain is climbable. You never left anyone behind, even when it meant putting yourself in harm's way. Your courage, selflessness, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire us, and your legacy will live on in every person you inspired. We will honour your vision by continuing the work you started; your mission lives on through all of us.
If you could see what we see today, you would know that you achieved your mission. Nimsdai, you truly showed the world that "giving up is not in the blood," and for that, we thank you for ever and always.
Rest well Nimsdai. Your spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.
