The UK is a husk. It spent most of its centuries-accumulated capital (monetary and cultural) by 1918 and then socialists got in and nibbled away at the rest. Now they are… this.
This is the BBC’s reporting of the roadster So negative. The UK establishment HATE innovation.

🇺🇸 BREAKING: Bank of America has been fined $1.2 BILLION by the US government. The bank failed to flag over $5 BILLION in suspicious transactions, the Treasury says. The missed transactions were linked to suspected Chinese money laundering networks and illicit finance around the southern US border. The Treasury called the bank’s money laundering and sanctions failures “egregious and continued.” The penalty includes a $750 MILLION fine from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, per the FT.

“Campbell, what do you think of gold?” I’ll stop buying when China stops buying
BREAKING: China’s central bank officially bought +23 tonnes of gold in September, its largest monthly purchase since September 2023. This follows +20 tonnes purchased in both August and July, and marks its 23rd consecutive monthly gold purchase. So far in 2026, China has officially acquired +103 tonnes of gold, raising total holdings to a record 2,410 tonnes. China is now the world’s 5th-largest gold holder, following the US, Germany, Italy, and France. At this pace, it could surpass Italy and France as early as this year, which hold 2,452 tonnes and 2,437 tonnes, respectively. China is aggressively buying the dip in gold.

Very important point. Money should not be quicksand.

This is getting serious, and what's really interesting is that the US Treasury has stopped saying or doing anything about it. They tried intervening at 4.6% & it backfired, so it seems now they're just going to ignore it & hope it goes away.

$AMD looking real undervalued Dr @LisaSu is an absolute titan, her turnaround of AMD the past decade should be studied and talked about more. Her work in gaming @IBM helped @sony and @toshiba make chip processors faster by a factor of 1,000. This enabled the PlayStation 3 when it came out to be so powerful you could run a supercluster with them. I buy stocks in a products I buy and use, I keep it simple DCA and forgot. Crypto gives me enough headaches. World models are incredibly important idc what @DarioAmodei @sama are saying. You can’t teach a chatbot to interact with the real world. Just not possible, or atleast the AGI we need to properly colonize the stars for humanity. Simulate virtually sandbox deploy to Moon. @NASAArtemis missions going up, lots of money in space, robotics, compute, crypto, commodities currently.

EA critics: EAs will cynically lie and adopt positions they don't really believe if they think it will help manipulate people into supporting their cause EAs:
In the interest of making AI x-risk bipartisan, I am hereby announcing my registered party affiliation as Republican! I’ve been Democrat & Independent in the past. Anyway the left-right axis is the stupidest sh*t we put up with. I’m a one-issue voter on not extincting ourselves.

Anyone in crypto knows how destructive EAs are They have a distorted world view that only them can save the world and will go to great lengths to accomplish this - even if it means causing lot of harm along the way SBF lobbied hard against decentralization and open finance Seeing the same parallels here with Dario & co

INCREDIBLE STATEMENT from the Fed that **rips** the big 3 banking cores (but without naming them. I'll name them: FIS, Fiserv & Jack Henry). They are the biggest reason why tech in the US banking sector lags so far behind that of fintechs & securities, as well as the rest of the world's banks. What's missing from the Fed's statement, tho, is the Fed's own role in creating this outcome. About 30 yrs ago, the Fed bestowed an oligopoly on these 3 companies by forcing most of the ~9,000 holders of Fed accounts to integrate with the Fed only thru one of these 3 Fed-approved integrators, rather than directly with the Fed. Look at what that policy has wrought--community banks held hostage by this oligopoly, which tries to sign them up to unchangeable contracts that can be 10 years long, lack of competition, vendor lock-in, and no incentive to innovate. It's a very broken system. Good for the Fed that it's starting to address the core problem, but it won't really be fixed until the Fed allows A LOT more banks to integrate with it directly.

It's always a new grift. It's always the same answer somehow: global Communism
We will die from global cooling in 10 years. We will die from global warming in 10 years. We will die from a virus in 10 years. We will die from overcrowding in 10 years. We will die from intolerance in 10 years. We will die from Ai in 10 years. The answer to all of these is to have an expansive government save us from dying in 10 years.

Notable, as Cal Newport pointed out in the NYT, that Jensen is pretty much the only major character in this arc that doesn't have some weird intersection with weird Bay Area Rationalism, etc. Take that as you may.
Jensen calls Jacob Coxon comments outlandish & “deeply untrue.” Said the labs are great, but his comments were wrong, arrogant, and ignorant of all the work being done around the industry to drive safety. 🧐🧐

Sometimes the best thing to do is make people own their grandstanding, as the Department of Education did with Princeton’s claim about their own institutional racism. I want to see Congress haul in Dario and make him choose between anthropic’s future or grandstanding for the regulatory moat. And make him do it in front of the other CEOs. I don’t think they’d all fail like the university presidents did after October 7th. They would twist the knife with technological optimism, which is what we sorely need.
Surely Anthropic’s IPO must be paused until the claims of this “whistleblower” can be investigated.
