Grateful to all the amazing people who brought their dogs and love to serve the @UMBaltimore and @UMMC communities through the Pandemic and every day.
It’s graduation season and the University of Maryland, Baltimore is “confurring” dogrees on service and therapy dogs who went above and beyond for the community and their handlers

"It only takes a few minutes to view a patient's 'Get to Know Me" information,'" says @umms' @GioraNetzer. "That can make all the difference in providing #PatientCentered care with a personal touch that patients will remember." bit.ly/3WGcY8c
“Writing is about discovery, not catharsis.” @RanaAwdish guides physicians through the power of writing. Amazing programming at @accpchest #chest2022.
All star panel including @ChrisCarrollMD @SarahJBeesleyMD @kimacquaviva talking about families in the ICU. Come join!
Breathtaking Roger Bone lecture by @WesElyMD showing that compassion is science, and benefits our patients, our families, and ourselves. Thank you for all you do to bring culture back to the personhood of our patients. #Chest2022
Best thing about being back at #Chest2022 is catching up with rock stars like @drdangayach and @crit_caring_MD. Future of @accpchest is bright.

This study highlights the safety of placing PICCs in severely thrombocytopenic patients without prophylactic platelet administration, which can save thousands of blood products annually. Great work from a team willing to rethink the status quo — congratulations, crew!
Our paper just published in Annals of Hematology showed lowering PICC insertion platelet requirement from 50K to 10K resulted in less prophylactic platelet & total blood transfusions with no difference in PICC bleeding

Can’t wait to read this; a valuable resource given the complexity of communication in neuro critical care.
Congrats @davidyhwang and (Maryland trained) @mjaffa_do !
For those of you in critical care with students/trainees, please consider recommending our new @CUP_med_health book on ICU #SDM. Out today in the UK/Europe and August 5 in North America. Tremendous effort by @mjaffa_do and our contributors. @YaleNeuroICU @YalePCCSM

Required reading on #wisdom from @WesElyMD. An important read for our trainees and for us, as we role model the future of medicine.

What’s going on here? And why it’s key in #COVID19
It’s quite simple: we finally had the #wisdom to ask Mr. D the right question! He and his wife encouraged us to use this picture to teach what we learned.

More like boom, it’s the bomb. What an amazing resource!
When @HainesKimberley suggested we write a book about ICU survivorship, @Jomcpeake22 and I were skeptical. But true to her word: “Boom, book written!”
With contributions from many wonderful collaborators around the world (see below):

An incredible, definitive guide. Have been so inspired and learned so much from @HainesKimberley @Jomcpeake22 @ICU_Recovery and so happy they have created this vital resource. #PICS
After a tough year in the ICU community, it’s great to see this book published. Thanks to co-editors @Jomcpeake22 @ICU_Recovery. Thanks to @iwashyna for opportunity. Thanks to the phenomenal authors who delivered despite global pandemic

Below - this is Alison Turnbull, PhD (@vitaincerta ) from @HopkinsPCCM giving presentation to colleagues at @PAIRCenter
Such an interesting, novel & important area of research for improving ICU clinical care ...
Follow @vitaincerta for more info
An engaging discussion led by @vitaincerta on designing communication trials in the ICU --important but challenging (right outcome? right 'dose'? right sample? unit of randomization?). Looking fwd to hearing about expectations and perceived health among ICU survivors later today!
