🌍Met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Bendito Freitas, on the sidelines of #UNGA81 High-Level Week.
As Maldives and Timor-Leste approach the 24th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, our meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss our shared interest in strengthening cooperation at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.
As fellow SIDS, we also exchanged views on shared priorities and challenges facing SIDS, and the importance of advancing these issues in discussions at #UNGA81.

A day marked by remembrance, dialogue and cooperation. This morning, I had the honour of attending the commemoration of the Liberation of Brussels in Laken, where I laid a wreath. It was a solemn occasion to reflect on the courage and sacrifices that restored freedom to our capital and laid the foundations for the Europe we safeguard today.
In the afternoon, I continued with meetings with colleagues on the EU response to hybrid threats, an area where close coordination and shared vigilance remain essential.
Between engagements, I signed the condolence register for Klaus Hänsch (1938–2026), former President of the European Parliament and a dedicated advocate of European integration. His decades of service helped reinforce the democratic role of the Parliament and continue to inspire our work.

🌍🇲🇻🇲🇻🇲🇻It was an honour to accompany President Dr. @MMuizzu at this evening’s commissioning ceremony of the Guardian-class Patrol Boat gifted by Australia - a significant milestone in the enduring partnership between the #Maldives and #Australia.
As close friends and trusted partners, our two countries continue to deepen cooperation in maritime security, defence, and regional stability. This vessel stands as a lasting symbol of Australia’s commitment to enhance the Maldives’ capacity to protect our shores and to strengthen our shared vision for a safe, secure, and prosperous Indian Ocean.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Australia for their steadfast friendship and continued support.
