Talarico on Elon Musk’s giant spending for Paxton:
“Ken Paxton is funded by one dude…. Elon wants our land, our water, he wants his own personal senator. We are going to send a message to the world’s first trillionaire - Texas is not for sale.”

I so admire Kasey Musgraves as an artist & a human. Always unabashedly herself. Totally country while bucking the rigidity of the Nashville establishment. And she’s selling out arenas everywhere with a big tent all of her own making: young women, queer men, Latinos, political progressives—- all folks who don’t always feel at home in country music. All without bending a knee to genre conventions. So cool to witness firsthand. Tons of joy.

Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

Dear Texas,
Ken Paxton is an irredeemable POS.
And you know it.
And no amount of money spent by billionaires to buy negative ads changes that.
And you know that too.

Dallas Morning News Today:
"Texans have a clear choice in the race for U.S. Senate between a man who is unfit for office based on a long history of corruption and a man of integrity who is well prepared for higher office and who has demonstrated a degree of political independence uncommon in our era of blind partisanship.
We supported Republican John Cornyn in every race he ran for Senate. Today, we urge Texans to vote for state Rep. James Talarico, the Democrat, over Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton."
The Dallas Morning News recommends James Talarico in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Read why. bit.ly/4zAc2nP

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Republican Reset
The more we hold our nose and reward corrupt, bigoted and severely flawed candidates, based solely on party affiliation, the more extreme and undesirable the candidate pool becomes with each election cycle.
Stopping these clowns in the primaries no longer seems to work.

Being in your 50s is honestly hilarious. 😂
One friend is a grandma, another still has a 10-year-old at home. One is celebrating 25 years of marriage, while another is dating someone who’s 25. One looks like they haven’t aged since 35, and another threw their back out just by sneezing.
Some are planning retirement, others are starting over after divorce. Some are becoming empty nesters, while others are still attending school meetings and making lunches. Some are booking cruises, others are discovering dating apps for the first time.
Half of us are saying, “Life is just getting started!” while the other half need three business days to recover from sleeping in the wrong position.
We’re all the same age, yet somehow living completely different lives. 😂
Nobody warned us that our 50s would look this chaotic, unpredictable, and entertaining. Honestly, we deserve a group discount on therapy, multivitamins, and heating pads. 😭

Brewers 1B Jake Bauers decided to retire two years ago. His wife was going to go back to work as a teacher and he would be a stay-at-home-dad. Three weeks later, though, she found out she was pregnant with their second child.
Bauers decided to return to baseball only because his family needed health insurance. Tonight he was named MVP of the National League Championship Series.
