Map of Natufian-related ancestry. I used G25 to get these numbers. Incase you don't know, Natufian-related is ancestry from hunter gatherers in the Levant and Arabia from circa 13,000 BP. Palestinians have 33% and Ashkenazi Israelis have 12% Natufian.

Ancient DNA from Epipaleolithic France was released recently in the last few months but went under my radar till today. Here's a run down of it. Has anyone looked at the DNA files themselves ??

@DanTabin Yo, did you hear about this ??? The mt results make sense. U5b seems to be from western Epigravettian. The Romania site has U5a1.

It seems to me that this paper fundamentally rewrites the standard "textbook" story of human evolution in three major ways: (1) The idea of a "pure" modern human origin in Africa is destroyed because every human alive today would be the result of a massive genetic "remixing" of ancient lineages occurring mostly outside Africa — lineages that had previously been separated for over a million years. (2) Neandertals are not a separate parallel branch of humanity, but rather essentially a hybrid population of early humans expanding into Europe 300,000 years ago and mixing heavily with them. (3) The previous timeline of the Out of Africa theory is significantly pushed back by a "bicontinental range expansion" that occurred 300,000 years ago.
New David Reich preprint proposes the expansion of early modern humans into Europe 300,000 years ago, likely originating from the Near East and/or Northeast Africa — long before the migrations about 50,000 years ago posited by the Out of Africa theory. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

All western hunter gatherers were not all the same. This is a 6-page pamphlet about mtDNA in Mesolithic Europe. It discusses how mtDNA reveals regional differences between WHGs who are seen as identical. These differences in their mtDNA could help us discover the origins of WHG.

The Indo-European Migrations: The Single Grave Culture animated The Single Grave Culture is a member of the larger Corded Ware Complex. This Culture represents the material heritage of the Indo-Europeans in Northern Europe, later becoming ancestral to Germanic speakers and possibly others. This animation was not made with AI, it was made based off of archaeological material, carbon dated sites and relative chronological inference. A full breakdown will be posted soon. This is a WIP, part of a much larger video encompassing the entire Corded Ware migration, and the Indo-Europeans as a wohle. You are going to see more videos on this account soon, so stay tuned.

This is why Corded Ware can't be directly from Yamnaya. DNA has been sequenced from basically every single Yamnaya grave known to exist. It's simply a fact they don't have the same Y DNA clades as Corded Ware.
Yamnaya and Corded Ware haplogroups similarity. 10 / 98 (10.2%) samples for Corded Ware have the same terminal clade as Yamnaya.

It's a relatively small detail that doesn't change the big picture of IE origins. It's awesome that DNA can tell us the specific Steppe clans that we descend from.

Even if Corded Ware derives from a Yamnaya underclass that isn't present in prestigious burials,. it still means there is a difference between the clan that dominated Yamnaya society and Corded Ware. There is somekind of distinction that can't be dismissed as meaningless.

Corded Ware derived from the same ethnic group as Yamnaya but from different clans within it.

Haha. A well balanced mix of the core European Y haplogroups.

"Accents" shouldn't influence how we see people but I do find it cool that George Washington probably spoke with a retro-southern accent similar to the one depicted in this funny south park clip. youtube.com/watch?v=IWoP81YO…

Most Americans don't know that he was a southerner. He came from a four-generation plantation owning family in Virginia. His people are the ones who taught English to African Americans.

Denmark was one of the first countries to do extensive archaeological research on their own country. Thanks to that we understand the prehistory of Denmark very well. New paper looks at what aDNA suggests about the spread of agriculture to Denmark.

New aDNA paper that once again shows that Central Asia has received migrations from eastern and western Eurasia.

Good summary of globular amphora. In bronze age poland some tribes carry I2a y dna and have low steppe ancestry which suggests some gac tribes were not conquered.
