#WorldBookDay2024 at @Saint_Gabriels today. All subjects teaching lessons themed around a subject-related book of choice. A day for further encouraging our wider reading initiatives around the school. Prisoners of Geography the choice, Russia’s Geography + Geopolitics the agenda.
Using maps + infographics for contextual understanding, we read and critically analysed Russia in Chapter 1.

NEW: An Oxford study estimating the environmental impact of 57,000 food products in the UK and Ireland has been published.
Researchers found that plant-based foods have the lowest environmental impacts and more nutritious foods are often more sustainable.

I love teaching what data actually looks like in real terms too; make the connection between the statistics (left) to what it means in real life (right).

Teaching about the consequences of Climate Change on the UK; increased rainfall/storms/extreme events etc etc and ON👏🏻CUE👏🏻 the heavens just open. An unexpected, hard-hitting, huge hail storm thunders down during an otherwise sunny day. Twas’ a beautiful Geography moment for me.
I think I would shed a tear of happiness if just one of my own turned their camera/mic on for a lesson, let alone do something like this 😅
